Learning Task/ Activities

1. Select one of the examples of the repercussions of an earthquake and briefly discuss how
people respond to it after seeing the damage it brought. Cite a scenario or situation for
example.

 For the most recent incident, the Abra was hit by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
 Abra experienced a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on July 2022, which resulted in landslides,
damaged roads, and the collapse of numerous structures, including churches and other
buildings that were hundreds of years old.
 People responded to this disaster by making safe themselves first. From what we have
practiced for years, during earthquakes we have to duck, cover, and hold until the
earthquake stops.
 The damage and destruction of houses, bridges, and roads resulted in our fellow Filipinos
staying in the municipals and shelters.
 In addition, the LGUs commanded its people to conduct a response team that aims to
clean the damages and rescue people.

3. In your own words, what are the effective strategies/plan for mitigating the impacts of
natural calamities?

 From what I have understood, natural calamities would not be prevented but the damages
they would make could be lessened.
 When there is a super typhoon, it would mitigate the impacts by evacuating the people to
a shelter before the landfall. In addition, we are also able to mitigate the impacts by
cleaning our drainages and planting trees.
 The LGUs would also be a big influence to persuade people who are at risk to evacuate
and save themselves.
4. Where are the Philippines' active volcanoes can be found? Give at least three instances
and a brief explanation of each one.

 Mayon a Volcano is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region,
on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Known for its "perfect cone" due to its
symmetrical conical shape, this well-liked tourist destination is also highly revered in
Philippine folklore.
 Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano in the Zambales Mountains, located on the
tripoint boundary of the Philippine provinces of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga, all in
Central Luzon on the northern island of Luzon. Before the pre-eruption volcanic activity
of early 1991, most people were unaware of its eruptive history. Pinatubo was severely
damaged and hidden from view by thick trees that housed thousands of native Aeta
people.
 The Taal volcano, which is situated in the province of Batangas, is the second-most
active volcano in the nation. It has had 38 previous eruptions that were all concentrated
on Volcano Island, which is located in the center of Taal Lake. Prehistoric eruptions
between 140,000 and 5,380 BP created the caldera. The Taal Volcano has seen several
catastrophic eruptions in the past, with an estimated 6,000 people dying overall on the
island and in the populous areas surrounding the lake. The volcano was declared a
Decade Volcano, deserving of rigorous study to avert future natural disasters due to its
proximity to populated regions and its history of eruption.
