TITLES IN THE SEQUENCE

HOW AND WHY OUR TITLES WERE CHOSEN

There were hundreds of different titles fonts to choose from in the editing software. However, only one could be picked. We chose the one used because it is simple.

The same font was used for the Title and Credits. However, a difference is still noticeable.

WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?

The title has more of a spacing between each letter. Each letter is also tilted on its vertical axis. An option was also used to give the letters a slight random change in position; although it is barely noticeable, it still has an effect.

On the other hand, the name credits are smaller size text. The letters are closer to each other as well. This simplicity also differentiates the Main movie title with the rest of text.

POSITIONING OF THE TEXT

All the text is positioned around the bottom left of the screen. This is because we found that it is the place where it would least get in the way of the rest of the shot.

The text also wasnt put directly against the edge of the frame. This is because a viewer may watch the film in a viewing format which may cut away part of the text if the picture is zoomed in. This prevents the chances of the text being cut off and illegible.

TIMING THE TITLES

Main Title: This was faded in a few seconds after the establishing shot was shown. This allows the viewers to picture and establish what the scene looks like before the name of the movie is displayed.

Credit text: There are several names which were shown throughout title sequence. The average interval time between each title is around five seconds. However various plus/minus two seconds to ensure the text does not fade in at a significant point in the sequence which can ruin the tension effect.

WHY OVERLAY?
All the text is overlay, instead of the text being displayed on a black screen. This was done because a black screen would stop the flow of the sequence. The downside to this is it reduces the amount of tension because of the lack of fluidity. An overlay allows the sequence to continue, however, with text on top.

ANIMATING
The titles were animated to fade in/out. This makes the titles more comfortable to watch as the text does not suddenly flash in and out. This is important as it makes the entire sequel as a whole more appealing and satisfactory to watch.
