6th Grade Class Policies & Procedures

These policies and procedures are given so that you and your child have a clear understanding of all expectations. Thank you for taking the time to read them together, to help emphasize them throughout the year, and for your support.

Classroom Expectations

Consequences
We elieve it is important to create a class family so that the emphasis is on respecting one another. $onse%uences will e handled on a one&to&one asis, which can include loss of privileges, detentions, and'or loss of conduct points. (ffice referrals will e used when necessary. We strive to discipline children in a way that helps them correct their ehavior. )or conduct, we will use a hole&punch system. *tudents are given a card to fill out each week. )ive points is deducted from the student+s conduct grade for each punch. The system starts new each week. Thank you in advance for working with us to emphasize excellent ehavior at school.

Morning Routine
*ixth grade students need to e dropped off near the porta les in the morning. They need to go directly to the gym if they are not eating reakfast. ,lease make sure to use the restroom efore class. *chool egins when you enter the door. -fter entering the room. put your ackpack away, sharpen pencils, get out supply ox, and egin morning work. When morning work is finished, you may read or work on other assignments.

Homework
We will assign homework as necessary throughout the week. /omework gives the student time to practice material that they have already een exposed to in class. 0t is the student+s responsi ility to return any homework.

Progress Reports

,rogress reports will e sent home after the third week of each six weeks. These will e inside their take home folders. The reports need to e signed and returned the following day.

Cell Phone Policy

*tudents caught with a ringing cell phone or one out in the open will have the phone confiscated. The first offense, the phone will e given ack at the end of the day. (n the second offense, there will e a 11# fine. The fine must e paid in the front office y an adult to have the phone returned. ,lease refer to the *tudent /and ook for further information a out cell phones.

Graded Papers & Correction

2very Tuesday graded papers will e stapled and sent home in a 3Take /ome4 folder. - conduct card will e attached for the previous week, as well as a weekly newsletter. -n adult in the household 56*T sign the conduct card acknowledging they have seen the graded papers, conduct grade and newsletter. 0f the conduct card is not signed and returned on Wednesday, then conduct cards will e punched every day until the card is signed. 0n addition, the conduct grade for the unsigned week will e a zero until the card is signed and returned. $orrections should e done on a separate sheet of notebook paper or in a different color. Erasing and changing answers is not acceptable. The original answers as well as the corrected answers must be visible. *tudents are given plenty of instruction on a su "ect efore given an assignment. 0f the student makes a failing grade, that indicates that either the child doesn+t understand the concepts taught, or they chose not to do the work properly. This information is very important so that the teacher can determine how to est help the child. 1. -ll papers with a failing grade 789 or lower: should e corrected at home. 2. Three of these failing grades, as corrected papers, from each su "ect, will have the grade raised to a ;<. 3. 0t is up to the student to redo these assignments. !. The redo papers apply only to class work and homework. !o tests will e redone.

"isitors

-ll visitors must check in at the office efore coming to the porta le. =ou may not come to the porta le for any reason during school hours without checking in at the office first. ,lease don+t try to ring lunch money or notes to the porta les. =ou must check in at the office, no exceptions. >/odges has a visitor schedule for lunch. 0f you wish to eat lunch with your child, the designated day for our class is )riday 12.<#&12.3#. ?isitors will @(T e allowed to eat with students on any other day of the week.

#ardies

The tardy ell rings at ;.##. 0f a student arrives after A.1# they will have to go to the office to check in efore coming to class. -fter three unexcused tardies, a note will e sent home so that an adult in the household will e aware of the situation. The student will receive a detention on the fourth one and any others during the six weeks. 0f there are extenuating circumstances for eing late, please send a note with your child$

,lease contact the office in the morning if your child will e a sent that day. =ou will need a written note upon returning to school. 5akeup work will e placed in a folder and availa le upon the student+s return. The student will have two days for every day of an excused a sence to complete and turn in work. 0t is the student+s responsi ility to get this completed.

'nack
- nutritious snack is allowed if your child wishes to ring one. )ruits, cheese, or crackers, are a good choice. *tudents are also encouraged to ring a ottle of water.
