1. Morning Routine:
I will stand at the door greeting each student by name as they enter
my classroom. Students will enter with a smile, put their belongings
away (i.e. backpack, lunch and/or coat), and check-in at the
Attendance Station. They will have two pencils ready for the day. If
they need to sharpen them, they may do so before the bell rings. After
students have accomplished all other steps, they should take their
seat and being their begin bell-work. Their bell work will be placed on
the SMART board.
A. Agenda:
I will write the agenda each morning on the Agenda Bulletin Board and
will list; the assignment/objective that we will be covering each day.
Below the agenda, Homework Assignment will be posted and
important due dates. See Homework Routine for additional details
B. Opening Assignment (Bell Work):
Students are expected to come in each morning and begin their Bell
Work. They will find their Bell Work assignment and directions located
on the SMART board, at the front of the classroom. Students are
expected to work independently on their opening assignment, and
should take 5-10 minutes. Students should read at their desks quietly,
if they finish early.
C. Attendance/Lunch Count:
The Attendance Station will have three magnetic boards labeled;
Home Lunch, School Lunch and Student Name. The students will
move their magnets to the section that applies to their lunch situation.
This will also be the way that attendance is taken. Students whose
magnets are left remaining in the basket, will be the students that are
absent or tardy.
3

D. Classroom Tardiness:
Students should be in their seats ready to begin the day at 8am.
Students that are tardy, should go to the Main Office and get a tardy
slip, where the office keeps a record. Students should quietly enter the
classroom. Student should check agenda on the board and quickly get
to work.

E. Pledge of Allegiance:
When students hear the intercom announcement; they should rise,
push in their chairs and put their right hand over their heart; say the
Pledge of Allegiance respectfully; during the 30 seconds of silence
they may pray or think positive thoughts about their day.

2. Discipline Routine:
A. Classroom Rules:
1. Be respectful to yourself, your classmates, your teacher and your
school.
2. Be safe: always keep your hands and your feet to yourselves
whenever your walking around in the classroom or in the hall.
3. Be responsible: have supplies ready to go each day, turn
assignments in on time and always try your best.
4. Be caring: use kind words, listen when others are speaking and
take turns.
B. Classroom Constitution:
It is imperative that children take ownership and are accountable to
themselves, their classmates and their teacher. Therefore, I will
provide the opportunity for the students to throw out any rules, with
the exception that they have to come up with another rule. After the
rules have all been agreed to they will create a poster and each of the
students will sign it. This signals that they are accountable and have
agreed to make positive choices to follow the rules for the school year.
C. Group Rewards:
I will have a Warm Fuzzy Jar in the classroom as a way of rewarding
students good behavior. The jar will start out empty and as the class
as a collective whole are demonstrating kind, and considerate
behavior a Fuzzy will be added to the jar. When the Warm Fuzzy
Jar is filled up, students will get groups rewards.

These rewards will include;

- Extra Computer Time
- Shoes off in the classroom
- Pizza Party
- Lunch in the Classroom
- Picnic Outdoors
- Extra recess time
- Class game at the end of the day

Warm Fuzzy actions include;

- Everyone is on task.
- Everyone is listening.
- Everyone is quiet when the teacher is talking
- Everyone is getting along with their classmates.
- ***Bonus Fuzzies will be when students are walking in the hall and
are noticed by other teachers.
- ***Bonus Fuzzies if we have a substitute teacher and she/he
leaves only positive behavior notes.

D. Individual Rewards:
I will assign each child a number. There will be a designated area of
the room, it will be inconspicuous in order to minimize singling out.
The chart will have each childs number, with four keys. If they can
maintain having four keys, (throughout a two week period) they will get
to unlock the treasure chest and pick out a prize. They will get keys
removed when they have violated B.L.U.R.T. (Blurts Out, Loud Noise,
interrUpts the teacher, a student is out of theiR seat without
permission, and is Talking to loudly). There will opportunities
throughout the school day for students to earn additional keys, and/or
earn keys back.

Before children remove a key I will follow the following procedures;

- I will make eye contact with the student

- I will stay in close proximity to the student
- I will use nonverbal signals to remind student that his/her behavior
-

is unacceptable and needs to be changed or consequences will

occur.
I will use verbal signals to demonstrate that his/her behavior is
unacceptable and needs to be changed.
If behavior problems continue, then I will enact my discipline routine
as follows.

E. Discipline Plan:
1. Children will be given three chances to correct their disruptive
behavior then they will lose a key. If children lose a key, I will have
a Mini Conference with them during recess. We will discuss the
misbehavior. The student will share why they misbehaved and we
will brainstorm how they can correct their behavior. *Children will
have the opportunity to earn the key back, with three additional
positive behaviors.
2. If students continue to misbehave, they will lose another Key. I will
also contact their parents via email, telephone or a note home. I
will explain the Class Rule that they broke, and what behaviors I
expect in the classroom.
3. If students continue to have misbehavior, then they will lose their
final key and I will have a formal in-person conference with their
parent.

3. Homework Routine:
A. Homework Assignments:
Homework will be assigned on Monday and is due Friday. It will
include a cover page that informs parents what the assignments are.
Homework Assignments can also be located on my web page or in the
Assignment Station, should students misplace their packets.
Generally speaking it will consist of the following;
Spelling words
Reading: read 20 minutes from guided reading book
Math: complete up to 5 math story problems each week that align
with the material being covered in class.
Homework will not be assigned over the weekend. Students should
utilize that time to rest, relax and play, so that they are sharp and
ready to learn each week. Over the weekend; students are
encouraged to have reading time with their parents and/or to
participate in an enrichment activity. An enrichment activity list, will be
sent home at the beginning of the school year.
If homework is not completed or turned in on Friday, students will have
Study Hall.
B. Study Hall:
Study Hall takes place every day during lunch and will serve as a
Working Lunch opportunity for students to finish their work. Students
will sit at a designated table in the Lunch Room. Students will
complete unfinished assignments throughout the week and if they do
not have their homework (only Fridays) during this designated time.

C. Absent Folder:
The Paper Passer; should put papers on the absent students desk.
The absent students buddy, should stack the papers and put them in
the Absent Folder (two per Table Group, found in the second tiered
drawer labeled Absent Folders). The absent student should
conference with the teacher, the day they return. The teacher will go
over which papers the student needs to complete, and by what day.
Generally speaking, the student will have as many days, as they are
absent to complete the work. The student can complete for homework.
D. Returning Work to Students/Thursday Folders:
Every assignment that has been checked gets filed into the class
mailbox, each student has a cubby. On Thursday, these papers are
taken out and placed in each students Thursday Folder and are then
sent home. Parents should empty the folders and send them back to
school on Friday.

complete the assignment in Study Hall that day. Students should place
Unfinished Assignments in their yellow work folders, on the left side.
Students need to understand how to pace themselves, and to work
quickly, in order to be prepared for the next activity.
C. Finished Early:

students to feel important and involved. There will be a designated
Classroom Job Station. Students should locate the list of jobs, and
locate their clothespin with their name. Some jobs will stay the same
