BUTTERFLY EDITION

Firstly, I would like to thank all of our wonderful parents for their participation in our Chinese New Year celebration on Friday, January 31st. The atmosphere in the classroom was wonderful. We had a potluck of traditional Chinese dishes provided by Ellie Sons mom and dad. In addition we were able to put traditional garb in the dramatic play area and listen to beautiful Chinese music. Social/emotional development is supported when children participate in cultural events like these. Secondly, the children really enjoyed Januarys theme of transportation. We learned about transportation high and low; including bicycles, wheel chairs, airplanes, and school buses. We went for a walk around the neighborhood and pointed out the different modes of transportation. Coupled with singing songs such as The Wheels on the Bus, and art projects such as Row Row Row your Boat, in which the children used popsicle sticks and pre-cut shapes to assemble their own boats, the butterfly classroom we ended the month of January on the go!
