SUBJECT CODE: SUBJECT TITLE: SUBMISSION DATELINE: PROJECT: Prepare a MACHINING PLAN for a metal component based on the following characteristics and requirements:a. Type of metal component: To be decided by the students themselves after discussion with the lecturer. In general, the component should be metal based, a single solid component (not assembled with other secondary component) and can be machine either using a CNC Lathe OR Milling Machine. b. SUBMISSION: Each group should use Microsoft Power Point to present their project and submit the soft and hard copy of the project by 30th October 2008. Assessment and marks given will be based on your creativity, proven practicality (especially the part program) and excellent presentation. You may use MTS notes as guidelines. Samples and examples given in the notes shall not be use for the project. Students are required to discuss the progress of their project with the lecturer before the final submission to ensure that the specifications of the project are done according to the requirements above. END. The blue print of the component preferably with a solid 3D view. The type of machine to be use. Work holding devices. The toolings to be used and cutting conditions. The machining steps / processes. Complete part programs, preferably has been tested using MTS software. Quality control process. Safety procedures. Costing of the whole operations as mentioned above.
