Sight words are commonly used words that should be recognized by sight for fast or fluent reading. E.W. Dolch created list in 1936. 220 words on the list

WHAT ARE SIGHT WORDS?

Many of the 220 Dolch words do not follow the basic phonics principles, and can not be sounded out. Traditionally, the list is divided by grades.

Learn/memorize 10 sight words a week

Read, write, create, repeat. This works towards the standard: (2.LA.1.7.1 Read at least 300 regular and irregular sight words fluently. (689.01f))
