FOOD (cuisine)
 Although Turkey seem a country steeped in
history, in fact, the Republic of Turkey is
quite young. It has only 86 years. Ottoman
Empire, the father of the republic, he
accumulated over 600 years of history,
which the Republic has inherited. The
Ottoman kitchen was very diverse, Turkish
cuisine is also very diverse and has
influences of European countries, Asian and
Arab.
DRINKS
 The most famous and
requested in the days
of strong heat is the
Ayran refreshing is a
kind of liquid yogurt
and usually take with
the accompanying
food. Taken with fruit
juices (Meyve
puul).The other drinks
are:the salgam and the
sahlep.
Salgam Suyu
 Turnip juice(Şalgam Suyu) is
a popular beverage of
southern Turkey. Is a juice
with carrot,black pickles,
salted, spiced and aroma of
turnip fermented in barrels.
It is traditionally served cold
in large glasses with slices
of pickled carrots.
Yogurt soup (Yayla Çorbasi)

 This a soup which is made in


all regions of Turkey. The
translation is"the soup of the
high plateaus". Before when
refrigeration was not available
it was difficult to keep milk
fresh and it was thus turned
into yogurt. Plateaus were
cool and consequently the
best yogurt could be found in
these high plateaus.
Vine Leave Wraps with
Olive Oil (Zeytinyagli Yaprak Sarmasi)
 Vine leaves are used in
many dishes in Turkey
but most popular are
filled with minced meat
( etli yaprak sarmasi)
and vegetarian sarma
which is made with
aromatic rice and olive
oil ( zeytinyagli yaprak
sarmasi). It is served
warm or cold.
Döner Kebab

 Turkish Döner Kebab is a


roasted dish made with
mutton or chicken. It is
then cooked slowly on a
vertical spit which is
sometimes topped with
tomatoes or onions. Once
cooked,the meat is cut
with a knife and placed
into pita bread.
