Minutes of the Special Meeting

East Sac County Community School District

Board of Education
May 12, 2014


The meeting was called to order by Rodman at 4:00 p.m. at the East Sac County Elementary School Sac City.
Present were Rodman, Wilhelm, Drost, and Stoltenberg. Lynch was absent. Supt. Fiene, Principal Olhausen
and four media representatives were also present.

Rodman reviewed the mission statement.

There were no changes to the posted agenda. Stoltenberg moved to approve the agenda as presented, Drost
seconded; motion carried 4-0.

Discussions with Jeff Kruse were unable to arrive at an agreement for a shared superintendent. South Central
Calhoun CSD opted to share with a different district.

The Board discussed whether to continue to pursue a sharing agreement, advertise for an interim
superintendent, or hire a superintendent search firm. After discussion, Wilhelm moved to advertise on
TeachIowa.gov for an interim superintendent (one year), Drost seconded; motion carried 4-0.

Supt. Fiene presented the Board with a recommendation to terminate an employee contract. Wilhelm moved to
receive and file the recommendation to terminate, Stoltenberg seconded; motion carried 4-0. No other action is
required on the recommendation at this time.

Wilhelm moved to adjourn, Stoltenberg seconded; motion carried 5-0. Meeting was adjourned 4:10 p.m.
