SYNOPSIS OF MATHEW BRADY LIFE Mathew Brady was born in May 18, 1822 in Warren County of New York. He met a famed portrait painter named William Page at age 16. They traveled to New York City to work with Samuel Morse who work with Louis Jacques Daguerre in France who invented the new daguerrotype (a device that capture images). Morse open a class and Brady was his first student. Brady open his own shop in 1844 and studio in 1849 where he met Juliet Handy, his future wife. After the development of the ambrotype, he started to use its technology to capture Civil War images. He published The Gallery of Illustrious Americans in 1850 which future many portraits of famous people. He died in January 15, 1896 and left behind his legacy as one of the most famous photographer..
CONTRIBUTION TO THE FIELD OF PHOTOGRAPHY He had taken over the traditional style of traditional journalists who often sending tales filled with half-truths romanticizing the war. His photographs often consists of real evidences of the world. He is also help paved a new way of using new photograph technologies like the ambrotype. SIGNIFICANCE IN HISTORY Bradys Civil War and portraits of famous people help the people back then and us understand the real world. He have many famous Civil War pictures and portraits of people like Andrew Jackson. His photographs also help us to understand what it was like back then. CHARACTERISTIC OF BRADY S WORKS Because advance photographing technologies havent been developed, Brady have to take picture before or after something have happen because it take awhile to capture the shot which make it really difficult to capture moving objects. He wants to show the realistic nature of the world instead of romancing it. THE EQUIPMENT His equipment included the daguerrotype and the ambrotype. MY INTEREST IN BRADY S TECHINIQUES I like his style of capture things as they really are. I also interest in taking pictures of significance events like wars, etc.
