CLASSES WITHOUT QUIZZES SHOWCASES U OF M FACULTY AND RESEARCH IN A FUN
AND EDUCATIONAL HALF-DAY EVENT
WHAT: Dont miss this opportunity to meet and learn from the University of
Minnesotas award-winning research faculty as they present on the latest work
being done on a local and international scale. Join youth, community members, and
prospective students as they engage with the researchers who are hard at work
every day to create a cleaner, brighter, faster, smarter, greener tomorrow. This event
offers many opportunities for multimedia content, including photo-ops with Goldy, the
chance to interview with Dr. Labuza and his colleagues, and insights from current and
prospective University students, as well as access to interested local residents
attending the event.
WHO: Keynote speaker Dr. Ted Labuza will kick off the event with a discussion of
food labeling practices and the steps consumers can take to better
understand them. The keynote will be followed by a series of eight
breakout sessions chosen by the participants, as well as a separate K-6
youth program event featuring the Gabbert Raptor Center. The Raptor Center allows
flash photography and resident naturalists will be available
for interviewing.
WHEN: Saturday, April 5th
Registration and Networking from 8:00 - 8:45 a.m.
Welcome and start of Kids Edition program from 8:45 - 9:00 a.m.
Keynote by Dr. Ted Labuza, Making Sense of Food Labels from 9:00 -
10:00 a.m.
Breakout Sessions from 10:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Optional Lunch at 12:30 p.m.
