Case Study #1: Jeremy
For Jeremy, I wanted to address as much as possible to increase his overall
independence. I felt that the best way to do this was through multiple visuals attached to a hard
plastic that he could insert into his binder for school. This allows him to carry the visuals with
him at all times in a discreet manner. The My Daily Schedule visual functions as a task
manager, and allows his to keep track of where he needs to be throughout the school day along
with the room number and to check off when the class is over. The other section of the board
cues him to STOP! at the end of each class and make sure he has all of his materials, has
turned in his homework, and has written tomorrows homework in his assignment
notebook/agenda. This visual functions as a management and organizational tool. They are
velcro-ed to the binder insert so that he is able to take either visual off and place on his desk
during classes as a reminder as well. I would also consider making smaller laminated versions
of the visuals that he could hang up in his locker as an additional reminder.

Case Study #2: Rose
With Rose, I also wanted to create a visual that would increase her independence. I
created two visuals, hand washing and hanging up a coat. Both of the visuals function as a
schedule. Both schedules are laminated, hole-punched, and have been placed on a ring. This
allows for Rose to easily carry these with her wherever she goes. They have simple visuals to
guide her through the steps of each daily living skill. Eventually, if warranted, the visual could be
moved from horizontal to vertical, text moved to the side, and possibly even remove the visual. I
felt that the ring would allow for additional daily living skills (e.g., getting her lunch, cleaning up
after a meal) to be added in addition to the two I have made.
