Why dimdim Web Meeting?
In todays business environment with globally distributed workforce, it is not realistic to
have face-to-face meetings with all participants present in one place. dimdims web
conferencing solution enables you to conduct online meetings over the internet easily
and economically. This leads to productivity gains and increased Return on Investment
as your attention is focused on where it should be - on conducting your business - and
dimdim takes care of the rest.
Typical dimdim Web Meeting
Using dimdim a presenter, say le!, can share his presentation, applications and even
his desktop with other attendees spread across the world. The attendees" #aya, $aria,
Takumi % &amato need only an internet connection and a browser and no installation of
software or configuration of firewall or pro!ies is needed. They can see and talk with
each other as if they are sitting ne!t to each other.

Different entities in a dimdim web conference
The different entities involved in this setup are as follows"
Presenter: This is entity which is sharing the presentation, application or any other
shared resource. 'haring of video and audio will need the presenter to have a
microphone and web cam and as of now the supported platforms for the presenter are"
Internet (!plorer ).* on +indows ,*** or higher. The -resenter will also need the .lash
plugin to be installed on the browser which can be obtained here.
Attendee: This is the entity which is seeing the presentation and interacting with the
-resenter through the dimdim application. The attendee as of now needs Internet
(!plorer ).* on +indows ,*** or higher with .lash plug-in installed on the browser.
dimdim Server: This is the entity hosting the dimdim pplication. /epending on the
usage patterns the
0onfiguration of the machine will vary but it is safe to assume that it will need to be much
more powerful than a -resenter or ttendee machine.

Installing the dimdim Web Meeting ,er3er

>nce you click on the link for the dimdim $eeting 'erver Installer you will be shown a
screen as shown in .igure =. 0lick on Run and start the installation. /uring the
installation please click on :e!t or any other appropriate 4utton.

Cicensing terms and click on ne!t to proceed to the ne!t screen.

This is the URC to which -resenters and ttendees will come to start or @oin a meeting.
D/o make sure that the URC you specify here is visible to all the people who are reEuired
in the meeting. The URC consists of the I- address only.
If you have a globally visible static URC 5say www.!yF.com or G,.,=,.38G.3**6
please specify that here.
(lse if all of the participants in the meetings are going to be from inside your
intranet you can specify a URC or I- address valid within the intranet. .or
e!ample" http"HH38,.3)9.*.=
If you are the only person going to use or test dimdim +eb $eeting 'erver you
can specify your local machines URC.

dimdim uses e!ternal '$T- servers to send invite emails from the -resenter to
ttendees for dimdim web meetings. This screen is used to specify the parameters
related to the '$T- server. -lease use your '$T- server and enter the parameters of
your '$T- server. .or test purposes you can use the /efault '$T- 'erver values to
use /imdim.com '$T- server. /o check for availability of the default server through
your network before using it. &ou can check for its availability by using telnet on
smtp.atlarge.net on port ,2 5on command prompt enter telnet smtp.atlarge.net ,26

To start a dimdim web meeting

,. +rite the I- of the machine where dimdim is installed. and then HdimdimH on the
address bar. This will look like for e!ample http"HHJ38,.3)9.3.38IHdimdimH
/ont forget to give the AHB at the end. nd then press enter.

If you want to start meeting from the same machine where dimdim is installed then
please do the following.

with the URC of a meeting all that needs to be done, to @oin the meeting is clicking on the
URC. >n clicking the URC a web form will come with populated values in the fields. I:
most cases the values can be kept as they are. #ust click on #oin 4utton to @oin the
meeting. #oining a +eb $eeting without an e-mail invitation" &ou can also @oin a meeting
