Trigonometry Word Problem Project / Pythagorean

Theorem
Word Problem #1
The Work Explain
A 45 feet ladder leans against a
building. The ladder base is 15 feet
from the building. Find the angel
which the ladder make with the
ground.

The way I solved this word problem
was that when I placed the number I
knew that it was Opp. And Adj. so
then I knew that I was looking the
angel and it was going to be TanX
would equal 45 divided by 15 and
when you got that answer you
would have to clear it then press 2
nd

and the Tan button and then press
2
nd
again but this time press answer
and you would get that the missing
angel was 71.6 degrees
45

15
TanX= 45/15

X= 71.6

Pythagorean Theorem

8
6
X
A2 + B2 = C2
82 + 62 = x2
64 + 36 = x2
100=x2
10=x
I got this one because
you have the
Pythagorean triple
and you already got
the two legs so now
you just got the Hyp.
So you know that 8*8
is 64 and 6*6 is 36 so
then you would have
to add those up and
you get 100 and the
square root of 100 is
10, so you know that
x2 would equal 10.
