Another month of this amazing Holistic Approach journey has just commenced, so many exciting
things planned for the future. Thank you to each & every one of our fabulous families for being an
important part of our journey.
Family Fun Day
Firstly a special thank you to all families, educators & staff that joined us for
an amazing ( although very chilly) family fun day last month down at Long
Jetty. We had a great day meeting some of our families. The children enjoyed
having their faces painted, the fairy was popular entertainment & each child
got to take their own balloon home with them. The most enjoyable part for the
children was the park venue with a great playground. We as a scheme really
value networking with families and having the opportunity to get to know
them. A special thank you to some of the dads & to our wonderful husbands
for cooking the sausage sizzle. We are looking forward to other great family
fun days in other areas when the weather warms up.

Muswellbrook area to our school readiness information evening:

HAFDC currently have 4 National Field Consultants as well as a National Scheme
Manager who have the role of visiting your educator & providing support & resources on a
regular basis. These girls all have formal qualifications within the child care field & bring
with them years of experience. They wear many different hats to ensure your children are
receiving the best, most professional child care possible. The girls are employed to mentor
our amazing educators as well as to ensure that regulatory requirements are being adhered
to. The consultants are available to assist the educator with documentation, setting up their
environment, discuss the developmental progress of each child & most importantly to
interact with your children when out in the field visiting. Make sure you take some time to
observe your educators documentation as it is sharing with you the magical learning
moments of your childs day in care.. Quite often the consultants meet some of you amazing
families as you are dropping off or collecting your children. Wishing you all a great month,
please feel free to contact me at any time should you wish to say hello or wish to discuss
anything, If not available please leave a message & Ill return your call at my earliest
convenience. Tracey xx

TIPS TO ASSIST WITH SEPARATION ANXIETY
Often this is a very stressful time for parent & child when mum/dad is running quite late for
work etc & dropping the child off into care can be quite rushed.
Try where possible to allow for enough time to share a few quick moments with your child
within their care environment. Research suggests that as parents we should never sneak out
while the child isn't watching, always look at your child as you kiss them good bye assuring
them that you will be back. Try to avoid hanging around the care environment for extended
periods as often this makes the issue worse .Distractions are great & your educator will have
plenty of amazing distractions within their environment. You may like to send the child with a
special family photo or something else meaningful from home that the child can refer to for
comfort throughout the day.
Reward/praise the child for any progress that is made re separating from family members

HOW TO VALUE & APPRECIATE YOUR EDUCATOR
Being a home based educator is an amazing experience & the team at HAFDC pride ourselves
in a scheme that works for its educators. Take a minute from time to time to explore your
childs care environment, observe wall displays & other documentation as it all is there to in-
form you of the magical moments your child experiences when in care. Why dont you nomi-
nate your educator for a national child care award would be an amazing way to show your
appreciation.

Please see the following link for sickness & illness information including exclusion from care
periods etc.. www.nhmrc5th edition
When ever in doubt as to send or not send your child to care when ill always phone & liase
with your educator as they have a scheme illness policy to adhere to , they also have a duty to
themselves as well as to all other children to reduce the risk of spreading an infectious illness.
Thank you for your valued contribution to our amazing scheme. HAFDC is the fastest growing
scheme in the country! WOW now thats truly inspirational!
