The Industrial Space as Architectural Resource

The thesis ais to put for!ard a s"nthetic stud" on the !a" the foral
#ualities of the industrial building are de$ned and e%pressed, as !ell as on the
t"pes of foral operations used in reconversion and their e&ects.
The ob'ect of our stud", nael" the industrial building as architectural resource,
is approached fro t!o points of vie!: as a passive resource, through its
in(uence on trends and prograes in civil architecture, and as an active
resource !hich can be capitali)ed through a process of interpretation and
change.
This process, underta*en in t!o stages + $rst, the anal"sis of the e%isting
building and then the actual conversion process +lies at the core of the present
stud", !hich ais at t!o ain ob'ectives:

conservation of industrial heritage and its capitali)ation through
reconversion-

environent.
