16 Hour Tactical Shotgun Course Syllabus

Objective: This is a very intense comprehensive 16 hour class of tactical
shotgun is designed to teach officers how in the proper deployment, tactics,
use of cover and concepts of the tactical shotgun. The student will achieve a
skill level that will allow him/her the confidence of the tactical shotgun
while on duty.

Course outline: Upon successful completion of this 16 hour course of
instruction, each student will understand and be familiar with the tactical
shotgun. Students will learn quality, realistic and practical training exercises
on the use tactical shotgun.
Course Objectives:

Speed/Accuracy Drills
Fundamentals of Marksmanship
Ammunition Penetration Drills
Cover Drills/Reloading Drills
Weapon Nomenclature
Weapon Transition Drills
Movement Drills
CQB Drills/Breaching Drills
Required Equipment:

Duty Belt w/ weapon
Minimum 100 rounds for handgun 25-00 Buck 25- Slugs 250- bird shot
Eye & ear protection
Foul weather gear
Body armor
Hat with a brim
Elbow/knee pads
Note taking material

Course schedule: Day One

1. Officers arrive at 08:00 hrs for registration.

2. 08:00-08:15- Safety briefing

3. 0815-09:00 Training Videos (15 min brake)

4. 09:15-10:00- Shotgun nomenclature

5. 10:15-11:00- Malfunction drills [speed vs. accuracy]
6. 11:00- 11:30 Lunch
7. 11:30- 12:45 CQB Drills (15 min brake)
8. 13:00- 15:00 Tactical reload drills [timed drills]
9. 15:00- 17:00 Movements drills dry
10. 17:00 17:30 Debrief,
Course schedule: Day Two

1. Officers arrive at 08:00 hrs for registration.

2. 08:00-08:15- Safety briefing

3. 0815-09:00 Skill on Demand Drills (15 min brake)

4. 09:15-10:00- Penetration drills/Cover drills

5. 10:15-11:00- Tactical shooting drills
6. 11:00- 11:30 Lunch
7. 11:30- 17:00 Tactical shooting drills
8. 17:00- 17:30 Debrief, Certifications
