Operations and maintenance (O&M)
plays a key role in ensuring the smooth
functioning of grid and providing reliable
and uninterrupted quality power supply to
our consumers.
By adopting supercritical technology units,
energy effciency has been achieved. Grid
blackouts are avoided by complying with
the grid code. Installation of advanced
technological emission control systems such
as Flue Gas Desulphurization, Electrostatic
Precipitators, and SOx/NOx Reduction
Burners as well as monitoring ambient noise,
air quality, and emissions at plant locations
aids in preservation of the local ecosystem.
For enhancing its competency, the O&M
function imparts expert training to its
employees along with practicing mechanized
and automated housekeeping methods.

Power transmission
APL is continuing to grow at an unparalleled
pace. Our power generation capabilities
have expanded multi-fold over the past years.
In order to beneft our end users, power
transmission capabilities in the country
needs to be ramped up. Our transmission
team has laid around 5000 Kms of
transmission network in less than 3 years
since its inception, which is an unmatched
feat in the industry.

High Voltage Direct
Current (HVDC)
Transmission
HVDC is a frewall against cascading
disturbances and it improves transmission
effciency. HVDC system also requires
fewer towers thereby reducing the number
of right of way issues when compared to
an equivalent AC system. HVDC enables
Controlled Power Exchange (125 MW to
2500 MW) and aids in power transmission
and stabilisation between asynchronous
AC distribution systems. Overall, HVDC
improves the (inter-region) grid stability.
