Completed actions
Objective: To learn about how to tell completed actions in English.

Simple Past tense
We use simple past tense to express completed actions.
Usage:
Completed actions
Difference between a regular activity and a single event in the past.
Eg: I drink coffee in the morning but today I drank tea.

Structures:
S =Subject; M.V =Main Verb; O.W =Other Words
Positive statement:

S + M.V (Past) + O.W
Examples:
Rani caught the ball.
Jack and Jill went up the hill.

Negative statement:

S + did not + M.V (Present) + O.W
S + didnt + M.V (Present) + O.W
Examples:
Mason did not come to the class yesterday (or) Mason didnt come to the class yesterday.
Emma and Ethan didnt go to the movie.

Yes/ No Positive question:

Did + S + M.V (Present) + O.W?
Examples:
Did Olivia see the notice board?
Did Liam and Sophia join the party?

Yes/ No Negative question:

Did + S + not + M.V (Present) + O.W?
Didnt + S + M.V (Present) + O.W?
Examples:
Didnt Jacob accept the offer?
Did Isabella not analyse the problem?

Wh Positive question:

Wh + did + S + M.V (Present) + O.W?
Examples:
When did you advise him?
How did Chloe book the ticket?


Wh(y) Negative question:

Why + did + S + not + M.V (Present) + O.W?
Why + didnt + S + M.V (Present) + O.W?
Examples:
Why did Logan not calculate properly?
Why didnt Ella bow?
