Authorities catch thief Red-Handed

A man admitted to attempting to
break into a local nightclub after police
caught him in the act in the early hours of
Friday.
Officers responded to a call at 3 a.m.
on Friday reporting loud noises coming from
behind The Raven night club. After they
arrived at about 3!" a.m.# they found a man
pounding on ply$ood near the door of the
business.

$earing gloves and a homemade stocking
mask $hile trying to break into the store
$ith a sledgehammer. 'e $as also in
possession of a carpenter(s hammer.
According to an Alamance )ounty
Sheriff(s Office report# Smith admitted that
he $as trying to get into the business on *+!
,irkpatrick Road# Burlington# to steal
money from the cash register.
Smith talked to a previous lounge
employee $ho said that the money $as kept
in the club overnight. Seeing good business
that night# Smith decided that this $as a
good night to rob the club lounge.
Steven %d$ard Smith $as arrested
and transported to the Alamance )ounty

records he received charges of burglary of a
business# possession of burglary tools and
