Isas Curiosity to learn

Isa has a curious mind. He enjoys learning. Very often he would come to me and asks
questions that nobody else does. Such as this morning he brought a eraser and asked,
What is this? I explained that this called a eraser or a rubber and if we make a mistake
when we write with a pencil, then we can rub the mistake off. I also demonstrated how we
do that. Isa was satisfied with my answer. Then he got a pencil and a piece of paper and
started to draw something and rub that off again and again. Ten minutes later he came
with a ruler and asked the same question. We had another good discussion and Isa tried
to use the ruler.
In the pictures below Isa is trying to learn how to use a pair of tongs. Today after morning
tea, we set-up writing activities for all the children. Isa finished his work very quickly and
started to walk around. When I asked If he wants to do any work from Montessori
practical life activities. He just shook his head and went there and chose an activity and sat
at the table. This activity was transferring cotton ball using a pair of tongs. He sat there for
a while and transferred all the ball. He repeated this activity a few times. He improved the
skills to use a pair of tongs. Most of the children find it hard to use a pair of tongs, but Isa
does it very well. When he finished he put the tray back and got another activity.
Learning happening here-
With this activity Isa is learning:
How to use a pair of tongs
Developing hand-eye co-ordination
Learning the names of the colours,
and numbers
Improving concentration,
independence and self esteem
Most of all he is enjoying the activity
Whats next?
We will make sure that all his questions answered appropriately,
Provide more challenging activities to improve Isas intellectual skills.
