1. Choose your own tv or magazine commercial to analyze. Watch a few, then choose the
one that you have the most to say about.
2. Answer the following questions about your advertisement. (You will probably need to do
this on another sheet of paper, or on the back of this one)
3. Show us what you know! Present your analysis of the advertisement that you chosen,
along with the ad

Questions:
1. How does this piece work to persuade the viewer?
2. What messages does it send?
3. What is the purpose of this commercial
4. What (if any) juxtapositions of images does the commercial present to viewers?
5. Does this advertisement succeed or fail in its ability to persuade viewers?
6. How might you have changed the commercial to make a better, more persuasive argument?
7. Who is the audience for this ad? How do you know this? What place does audience play in
making effective arguments?
8. What emotional appeals are present in the ad?
9. Are there any arguments based on facts and reason? Why does this argument break down?
10. What other types of propaganda do you see in this advertisement?
