A symbol stands for an idea.


The Statue of Liberty stands in New
York as a symbol of freedom.
It was originally given as a gift from
France to the USA to represent the
friendship between the two countries.
Over the years it has become much
more. It has greeted millions of
immigrants and it represents hope and
opportunity for those seeking a better
life in America. It stirs the desire for
freedom in people all over the world. It
represents the United States itself.
The Statue of Liberty hold two items, a
torch and a tablet. The torch lights
the way to freedom. The tablet
represents the laws of the country. It
has the date July 4, 1776 written on it.
The seven spikes on the Statues
crown represent the seven seas and
the seven continents of the world.
