This document is a petition calling for justice for victims of sex abuse in Rotherham and opposing attempts to divide people over the issue or use it to justify cuts to child services. It condemns the horrific abuse of 1,400 children in Rotherham and demands prosecution of all offenders and those in the council and police who failed to act. While supporting justice, it also calls for unity and opposing efforts by racists and politicians to make this a race issue or use it to justify cuts.

We the undersigned totally condemn the horrific abuse of 1,400 children in Rotherham over 16 years and how the authorities ignored the victims. We say all offenders must be prosecuted immediately and those at the top in the council and police who suppressed the truth and did nothing should be brought to justice.
But we can't let the racists of the EDL, or politicians and the media divide us and turn this scandal into a race issue. We support the counter-demonstration against the EDL in Rotherham on 13 September We also need to stand together and unite and fight cuts in resources in child services which only threaten to make things worse.
