Chester Raccoon reveals his fear: hes afraid to recite lessons in front of the
other animals at school. Chesters mother tells him a strategy: ThinkTell
Do. If you think you cant, tell yourself you can, and do it!
Week of September 1- 5,
2014
CHESTER THE BRAVE
hope everyone had a
wonderful summer and is ready to have
a great 2014!2015 school year. All of us
in the Learning Center are excited to
be back and have enjoyed seeing all the
students getting settled in their
classrooms, meeting their new teachers
and making new friends.
This week the Learning Center started
to have students come to room 9. We
had an exciting week of getting to
know each other, establishing
classroom rules and routines, and
discussions of being brave and taking
risks in learning.
This year, the Learning Center will be
using Class Dojo. Class Dojo is an
online classroom tool to help build
students learning habits and boost
classroom engagement. Students will
receive positive feedback when
exhibiting behaviors that enhance
their learning. As the Learning Center
becomes more familiar with this
program, I
will share
more
information
with parents.

Labor Day
School was closed for the Labor Day
holiday.
Tuesday
Getting to Know Each Other
We learned more about each other and
each student worked on an All About
Me poster. We established classroom
expectations and rules.
Wednesday
Chester the Brave
We read aloud Chester the
Brave by Audrey Penn. We had
discussions about being brave
and that being brave means not
letting fear stop you. We are
going to be brave learners this year.
Thursday
Chester the Brave Artwork
Students each made a Chester Raccoon
poster and wrote what they want to learn
this year.
Friday
Assessing What Student Know
Think- Tell- Do is the message from
Chester the Brave. In the Learning
Center, students apply the Think- Tell-Do
strategy in their work.
