Purpose
Applying brainstorming and the problem analysis technique to a new problem. Note that we will continue this exercise
in class tomorrow, so, there is no need to rush.
Problem
Assume you are a product specialist (or requirements engineer) working for the Moodle enhancement team at IAIT,
Rose-Hulman. There are a few faculty members who still use regular web pages or Google sites for managing there
courses. Your team wants to develop a set of hypothesis as to why these faculty members are reluctant to use Moodle
before talking with them. Here are your tasks:
1. Using brainstorming, identify and prioritize the first three key problems with adopting Moodle. (Remember the
Describe-Discover-Decide framework).
2. Using brainstorming, identify key stakeholders of the system (Moodle).
3. Develop a problem statement for the highest priority problem identified in Q1. (Refer to Slide #8)
4. Using a Fishbone diagram, detail the root causes of the problem discussed in Q3. (Refer to Slide #9)
5. Using boxes and lines/arrows, present the solution system boundary for the problem detailed in Q4.
