Course Overview:
In this semesters exploratory course we will be learning and mastering academic skills by examining
some of Historys most influential people. We will be improving our academic and technology skills by
learning about great leaders, inventors, musicians, scientists, artists, athletes and much more. Some
amazing people we will be learning about: Felicitas Mendez, Cleopatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Jackie Robinson,
Bruce Lee, Gandhi, and so much more!

Parents/Guardians:
Please check your Childs Student Agenda DAILY. Make sure their classwork and homework is written
down neatly. I will periodically write notes or staple important information in their agendas to
communicate with you. Please make sure your childs agenda is: neat, clean, no pages torn out, no drawings
or pictures on pages and check pages 154-155 to check if they are missing assignments.

How to take Cornell Notes
How to critically and objectively analyze current events

Technology skills you will master:
How to make and edit a movie
How to effectively and safely use the internet
How to use applications (apps) for educational purposes

Grading:
It is the students responsibility to check their grades on a regular basis on Aeries or come see Ms.
Caldwell AFTER school. Every point in my class counts so make sure you turn in EVERY assignment, study
and work exceptionally hard on our Projects and Common Assessments. Each assignment is worth the
following points.

Materials for Class:
Everyday you are required to have the following items:
Your School Binder (with tabs for different subjects)
Your School Agenda
Your Do Now Notebook (70 Page spiral notebook, dedicated to only to our class)
2 pens and 2 sharpened pencils
*If you are unable to purchase these items, please see me after school.

Smart Phone Policy:
A smart phone is not needed for my class, however there are times that I will allow you to use them for
educational purposes. Using your Smartphone without permission is strictly prohibited and using it for
entertainment purposes is not allowed. Phones will be confiscated and turned into the discipline office if
used inappropriately.

Homework and being late to class (Tardy):
Students are expected to complete Homework regularly and be on time every day. Parents will be
notified immediately if students do not complete an assignment or is tardy. See your agenda for more
information (Page 14).

Behavior Expectations:
Students are expected to follow all school rules at all times.
Some key rules students must abide by in class:
1. Follow directions the first time they are given
2. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak
3. Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise
4. Respect private property and maintain a clean work environment
5. No cursing, teasing or disrespectful behavior toward students or adults

If you choose to Break a class or school Rule:
*Choose to follow all rules at all times and you will not have any of these consequences.
