Character Word: Responsibility
Weve had another great week. We are definitely working hard and digging deeper
into our learning.
We have started fractions this week and will continue our learning into next week.
We have discussed the numerator and denominator as well as equivalent fractions.
Our discussions about where we see and use fractions in our daily life surprised the
class. We use fractions everyday for so many different things, calendars, atten-
dance, lunch count, etc!
In reading we began looking at nonfiction text features. This carried over into our
social studies and science instruction as well as in reading books and magazines. I
signed up to receive several classroom copies of the Christian County Headliner. The
class has enjoyed reading about a local vet teaching how to care for animals in India
as well as the sports section!
In social studies we finished learning about Missouri cities, rivers and the surround-
ing border states. Next week we will begin looking at the regions of Missouri.
This year, there will be a Halloween Costume Exchange. If you have a costume in
clean and good condition, you can send it to school. You will then be able to shop for a
new to you costume for this Halloween. Please see the attached flier with more in-
formation.
Mrs. Brock has created a Facebook page, please Like Mrs. Brocks Counseling Cor-
ner for more information.
Next Wednesday will be our classrooms day to run the mile in PE. Please make
sure to send your child in tennis shoes and possibly a jacket if its chilly that day.
Grandparents Day for fourth grade will be Monday, September 29th from 9-
9:50.

Student Response:
This week I found out that my prediction is coming true because Rotten Willy
and UpChuck are becoming friends. I can tell they are building a relationship
because UpChuck is asking Willy all kinds of questions about college, and Willy
is taking the time to share with him. I think this friendship will continue to
grow. I am also wondering if something is going to happen to Tom. The book
makes me wonder this because it keeps referring to the fact that Tom and
UpChuck will be friends FOREVER I am really enjoying this book. It is funny
and the author does a good job of helping me see the story in my head. I cant
wait to find out what happens next!
