COURSE OUTLINE: This course is designed for the student who is ready to explore and experiment with the various areas of electronics. Students will be introduced to safe work practices and learn practical skills that are applicable to today`s workplace. Students will also have the opportunity to learn valuable skills such as equipment repair, and explore topics of personal interest relating to electronics. TOPICS: 1) Electrical and shop safety 2) Hand and power tool safety 3) Soldering safety 4) Soldering 5) Sources of electricity 6) Electronics components 7) Metric notation 8) Resistors 9) Batteries 10) Ohms law 11) Projects
EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS: Safety: Students must complete all safety tests and maintain a safe working attitude to remain in the course. Unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the course. Attendance: School rules for absences will be followed in this course; it is the students responsibility to catch up with missed assignments and tests. Shop cleanup: All students are required to participate in shop cleanup at the end of class. Take responsibility for your own learning: My door is always open for help or extra shop time.
