Activity 1 Identification (Do You Know Me?)

This activity is all about tools and materials. The
objective of this activity is to know their prior knowledge
about electrical tools and materials.
Activity 2 Think and Share
This activity is entitled Find me in your Home; this
activity will help your learners to be familiar with the
electrical gadgets that are available in their homes.
After 5 minutes, they will share their answers with the
2

class.
Activity 3 Checklist (Do You Know Me?)
Learners are tasked to analyze the given basic
knowledge and skills in the production of basic
electrical gadgets.
The objective of this activity is to assess the prior
knowledge of the learners in electrical wiring and
installation.
Activity 4 Multiple Choices
The objective of this lesson is to assess the prior
knowledge of the learners about electrical wiring
systems and electrical gadgets.
IV.

LEARNING GOALS AND TARGETS

Let your students write their learning goals and targets by filling out the pattern
found in their modules.

V. COMMON COMPETENCIES
A. Know

B. Process

C. Understand

1. Lesson 1: Assembly of Extension Cord (Discussion)

Demonstrate/show how to assemble an extension cord,
then lead your discussion to electrical tools and materials
used in assembling basic electrical gadgets.
2. Lesson 1A: Electrical Tools and Materials (DemoTeaching)
Present actual example or pictures of different tools,
supplies and materials.
Discuss the safety measures and precautionary measures
with your learners.
Post a few reminders like Prevention is better than Cure.
Activity 1: Venn Diagram Similarities and Differences
Ask them to give their observation/s by comparing a Do-ItYourself DIY extension cord with a ready-made
extension cord available in the market.
Discuss the directions and reminders for proper use of an
extension cord. You can ask them to perform it through
role playing.
1. Extension Cord
Ask your learners to demonstrate the actual making of an
extension cord.
2. Table Power Consumption
Guide them in studying the power consumption table and
interpreting the graph.
The aim of this activity is for your learners to know how to
use electrical appliances wisely.
3. Enumeration
Let the learners list down some possible combinations of
appliances that can be plugged-in to a #18 flat cord
extension.
4. Using of Tools and Materials (Hands ON)
Let your learners do the activity on using tools and
materials with electricity.
5. Group Sharing
After the activity in using electrical tools and materials,
ask the learners to answer the questions related to this
activity to know their insights while doing this task. This
can be done either an oral or written exercise.
3

6. Group Dynamics
Have a group activity about tying the underwriters knot.
After the group discussion, ask them to perform the
activity using the procedures in the LM and prepare a
sample project plan.
7. Essay Writing
Guide the learners in answering the suggested activity as
a follow up to the previous activity.
8. Lamp Shade Assembly
Discussion
Discuss the lesson on the assembly of a lamp shade.
Let your students discuss the three major functions of the
lampshade.
Essay Writing
Instruct them to make an essay about the most practical
and convenient type of lamp shade to be used.
9. Electrical Symbols
Discussion
Discuss the common electrical signs and symbols.
Guide the learners in answering the suggested activity
about common electrical symbols.
Drawing
Ask them to draw the electrical symbols in an Oslo paper
10. Electrical Circuit
Discussion
Discuss the electrical circuit. Show a mock-up
Show the parts of the electrical circuit.
Also, discuss the different types of diagrams
a. Schematic diagram
b. Pictorial diagram
c. Block diagram
Performance Test
Prepare a mock-up consisting of the different parts of an
electrical circuit. Each part has two terminals for positive
and negative polarities. Your learners will connect the
mock up. Using the schematic diagram.
Make sure your mock-up can be used to perform the
series and parallel circuits.
11. Water Heater
Discussion
Discuss with the learners the process of assembling a
water heater. Include in the discussion the parts and
tools that will be used.
Group Activity
Group the learners into teams and assign a leader.
Ensure that the learners understand the safety reminders
to be followed in relation to assembling a water heater.
12. Soldering Techniques
Demo Teaching
Discuss the lesson about soldering techniques. In
discussing this lesson provide an actual soldering iron
and perform the techniques in soldering.
Group Activity
Group the learners into teams and assign a leader.
Ensure that the learners understand the safety reminders

to be followed in learning the soldering techniques.

13. Tester
Discussion
Discuss the lesson about multi-testers, continuity testers
and test lights. In the discussion use the actual gadgets
as much as possible.
Guide them in doing the suggested activities about the
continuity tester and test light.
Practical Test
Let the learners make the different measuring scales in
their lecture notebook. Let them use the multi-tester one
by one.
The suggested activity in the module is about the
identification of parts and the actual use of a multi-tester.
In making a continuity tester and a test light, explain well
the procedures in its assembly and discuss safety
measures to be observed while assembling and using the
gadgets.
1. Electrical Gadgets
Discussion
Discuss the basic electrical gadgets. In discussing the
basic electrical gadgets use software like power point or
use websites like YouTube as a reference. If this
technology is not available. Try to use some visual aids.
2. Project Making (Group Dynamics)
Guide your students to perform the following suggested
activities.
Heaters
Extension cords
Lamp shade assembly
Water heater
Continuity tester
Test light
Note:
You can group the learners into groups of five. Each group
will be assigned one item to accomplish.
Group 1 Heater
Group 2 - Extension
Group 3 - Lamp Shade
Group 4 Continuity Tester
Group 5 Test Light

VI. SUMMARY
Electricity is a form of energy that can help us to make our tasks easier and help
make our economy a successful one. However, electricity is dangerous and it can be
harmful to everyone. Having skills in measuring devices, such as voltmeter,
ammeter, wattmeter, ohmmeter, frequency meter, and multi-tester is very essential
in any electrical work. These instruments are specifically useful in determining the
actual amount of current and voltage electrical circuits have. They are also important
in trouble-shooting and servicing all types of electrical products and circuit systems.
Every measuring instrument should be used with care and skill and should be
properly maintained. You must therefore learn the basic concepts in the effective
utilization of measuring instruments, observe precautionary measures to avoid
5

damaging the meters, and perform repair work on them when needed.
With the help of this module you are now really equipped and have gained
more bits of information in order to use electricity in your everyday life. Also, you can
practically have an income if you use your abilities and skills whole heartedly for your
community.
Note:
Go over with the learning goals and target of your students which they
have written at the start to check if they have attained their goal and targets. If not,
check what needs to be improved.

VII.

GLOSSARY

The purpose of the glossary is to guide you and the learners to be equipped with the
technical terms and be familiar with its meaning. The glossary will serve as additional
material that will guide the learners practice of the skills learned in the course.
