a. Explain the operation of Incandescent Lamp as the current flows
through it.
b. Install an Incandescent Lamp following the procedures according to the
Learning Module.
c. Value the function of Incandescent Lamps in promoting safety among
the people in the neighborhood.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Installing an Incandescent Lamp
References: Installing Electrical Lighting System on the Auxiliary Outlets and
Lighting Fixtures (Pages 83 to 92)
Learning Outcomes 7: Layout and Install Incandescent Lamp
Materials: Laptop and Projector for PowerPoint Presentation
III. PROCEDURE

A. Routinary Matter
 Prayer
Let us stand for the prayer……
 Greetings
Good Morning Class!
 Attendance
The teacher will task the secretary to write on a ¼ sheet of
paper the names of the students who are absent and pass that
after the class.
B. Review
 What was your previous topic?
C. Motivation
 Show a picture of a “Light”.
 And relay these questions:
1. Can you imagine a world without a Light?
2. Can you see the smiles of your love ones every dinner?
3. How important light in our lives?
D. Activity
 Group yourselves into four, showing on a PPT the scrambled steps of
an unknown competency, you are task to arrange them by numbers in
a separate sheet. You are given four minutes to do the activity.
a. Check the continuity of the Circuit.
b. Connect incandescent lamp based on the circuit design.
c. Cut or bend wires way to their desired lengths.
d. Fish-in conductors inside conduit/wire ways.
e. Layout all the measurements of the installation, base on the
work plan.
f. Mount all the boxes and receptacles together with their
connectors/adapters to their desired locations.
g. Prepare necessary tools and materials.
h. Splice and joints wires in the junction’s box based on the circuit
design operation.
i. Wear appropriate PPE.
j. Ask the assistance of your teacher to evaluate your work.
E. Analysis
 Let each group share their work, check their answers and provide the
correct answers, then ask these following questions.
1. Did you find the activity difficult?
2. Are there any clues that help you to arrange the steps? (the
students will respond “Yes”) Give at least two examples.
F. Abstraction
Show on the PowerPoint Presentation the Following:
“INSTALLING AN INCANDESCENT LAMP”

Objectives:
a. Explain the operation of Incandescent Lamp as the current flows
through it.
b. Install an Incandescent Lamp following the procedures according to
the Learning Module.
c. Value the function of Incandescent Lamps in promoting safety
among the people in the neighborhood.
Incandescent Lamp
The incandescent light bulb or lamp is a source of electric light that
works by incandescence, which is the emission of light caused by heating
the filament.
Incandescent bulbs are the original form of electric lighting and
have been in use for over 100 years. While Thomas Edison is widely
considered to be the inventor of the incandescent bulb, there are a
number of people who invented components and prototypes of the light
bulb well before Edison did.
One of those people was British physicist Joseph Wilson Swan,
who actually received the first patent for a complete incandescent light
bulb with a carbon filament in 1879. Swan’s house was the first in the
world to be lit by a light bulb. Edison and Swan merged their companies
and together they were the first to design a bulb that was commercially
viable.

Parts of an Incandescent Lamp

1. Coiled Tungsten Filament – the metal wires made of tungsten that

glows brightly when electricity flows through them.
2. Connecting Wires – the wires that carry electricity from the bulbs
electrical contact to the filament.
3. Electrical Contact – the metallic base of the bulb, which connects to
the connecting wires of the lamp.
4. Glass Envelope – the thin layer of glass that surrounds the light bulb
and traps the inert gases.
5. Glass Fuse Enclosure – the glass that insulates the bulb’s fuses
located within the stem of the bulb.
6. Mixture of Inert Gases at Low Pressure – the bulb is filled with inert
gases like argon and nitrogen.
7. Screw Cap – the threaded base of the bulb that secures it to a lamp.
8. Support Wires – the wires that physically hold up the filament.
Operation of Incandescent Lamp
The thin wire, or filament, inside a light bulb resist the flow of
current through it. When electricity is passed through the bulb, the
filament becomes hot and glows brightly. To prevent the filament from
melting or burning away completely, the inert gasses inside adds on to its
stability.
Installation of an Incandescent Lamp
Using the Flexible Conduits

plan.
4. Mount all the boxes and receptacles together with their
connectors/adapters to their desired locations.
5. Cut or bend wires way to their desired lengths.
6. Fish-in conductors inside conduit/wire ways.
7. Splice and joints wires in the junction’s box based on the circuit
design operation.
8. Connect incandescent lamp based on the circuit design.
9. Check the continuity of the Circuit.
10. Ask the assistance of your teacher to evaluate your work.
G. Application
Instruction:
Same group from the past activity and given the materials needed, you are
task to install an Incandescent Lamp using the flexible conduits, the table
below is the criteria on how I will assess your performance, you are given
twenty-five minutes to do the activity.
