IV. Procedure

A. Introduction/Preliminary Activities:

Facilitator Learners
Greetings
(Good evening Class)
Opening Prayer
Checking of attendance
(Presenting a picture of extension wire)

Today we will tackle about assembling an

extension wire.

“Who has an extension wire on their

houses?”

For you what is the importance of an

extension cord?

B. Motivation

Facilitator Learners
Do you know how to check the durability
of the extension cord you are using in your
home?
Did you know that extension wire is very
easy and affordable if you know how to
assemble it.
Today I will going to demonstrate to you
on how to assemble an extension chord

C. Lesson Proper
1. Activities
a. Gather all necessary materials, tools and equipment needed.
b. Split the cord wires about and remove insulation of both wires 1 centimeter
long with a pocket knife as if sharpening a pencil. Be careful not to cut any
strand.
c. Scrape bare wire with the back of the knife until shiny. Twist the wire
stands.
d. Make a loop on terminal wires and connect the wires to the terminal screw
of the male plug. The loop should go with the thread clockwise direction.
e. Split the cord wires at the other end and then follow procedure b and c.
f. Open the convenience outlet then remove the screw.
g. Make a loop on terminal wires and connect the wires to the terminal screw
of the convenience outlet, tighten it and return the cover.
h. Check and test the extension cord by putting the test bulb.

2. Application

Provided with materials. Let the student assemble an extension cord.

Instruction and safety rules must be discussed before the activity starts. The performance
will be judge using the following criteria:

Performance Rubrics
Criteria 1 2 3 4
Accuracy
Workmanship
Proper handling of tools
Speed

 Accuracy - the ability to follow the procedures/directions with precision.

 Workmanship - the art, skill and finality of work.
 Proper handling of tools - the ability to apply proper handling of tools for a given
task.
 Speed - efficiency of work.

Legends
Scale Description Points
4 Excellent 93-100
3 Good 86-92
2 Fair 79-85
1 Poor 78 and Below

3. Summary
Extension Cord is very useful in our lifestyle especially that we almost used
electronic technology in everyday living. Such using of extension cord, we should check
the capacity and durability of the item as it could bring danger to us. Instead of buying
cheap extension cord which is beyond the Electrical Code Standard we can assemble it in
a low cost which more safe and dependable on daily use.
D. Evaluation

IDENTIFICATION:
Directions: Identify the following items being ask is the sentence. Write the
answer on the spaced provided.

1. __________- a device that acts as a convenient source of electrical energy for

current consuming appliances. It is where the male plug of an appliance is
inserted and usually fastened on the wall or connected in an extension cord.
2. __________- a device inserted to a convenience outlet to conduct electric
current. A flat cord is attached to it on one end and the other end is connected to
a current consuming instrument or appliance.
3. __________- is a duplex stranded wire used for temporary wiring installation and
commonly used in extension cord assembly.
4. __________- tools are made of steel hardened and tempered at the tip used to
loosen or tighten screws with slotted heads. They come in various sizes and
shapes.
5. __________- are made from metal with insulators in the handle and are used for
cutting, twisting, bending, holding, and gripping wires and cables.

ENUMERATION:
Directions: Enumerate the items being asked.

1-3 Essential materials needed for extension cord.

4-5 Give two kinds of Pliers
