UmmahisinvolvedinrejoicingtheJashn(function)ofGhadeerwhereasrealityofthisdayhasbeen

notdeliveredHismessage,andAllahwillprotectyoufromthepeople;surelyAllahwillnotguidethe

Wilayatistheaxisofreligion.ThesystemofthisuniverseisrunningaroundtheboundariesofWilayat
andAllah(SWT)beingthebiggestofWalee(guardians),HechosethemostofthepurifiedonestobeHis
representativesonearth.Wilayatisthefoundationofreligion.TraditionsstatethattheIslamisbased
onfivepillars:
1)Salah(Prayers)
2)Sawm(Fasting)
3)Hajj(Pilgrimage)
4)Zakat(IslamicTax)and,
5)Wilayat(Guardianship)
AndamongstthesefivepillarsWilayatisthemostsignificantpillarsuchthatifitwastobetakenoutof

Our Understanding of Wilayat as Sufism
AquestionthatwemustaskourselvesisthattheWilayatwehaveunderstoodisthesameastheone
theHolyProphet(P.B.U.H)wasorderedtodeclareontheDayofGhadeer?Andthedeclarationfor
whichhishearttrembledtosomeextentlookingatthepresentconditionofthepeoplearoundhim?
TodaytheHolyQuranisfreeofanyadulterationbecausetheresponsibilityofpreservingitisinthe
handsofAllah(SWT)butthetranslationispennedbyus.Interpretershavenottakenthemeaningfrom
theAyahbuthavecreatedameaningthemselvesbecausethemeaningandperceptionofWilayatinour
mindsisofSufism.WedonothavetheQuranicconceptofWilayatinourminds.
SufistakeWilayatasaSpiritualconceptwhereonepracticesgreatandunforeseenthingswhichpeople
intheirlanguagecallamiracle(mojiza)e.g.theygivechildrentothosewhodonothave.Theypractice
differentthingsandarecapabletocureothers.Thesekindsofpeoplearefarawayfromthisworld,
awayfromsinsbuttheydonothaveanyresponsibilityontheirshoulder.ButtheWilayatgivenbyAllah
isGuardianship(TheResponsibilityofGoverningtheUmmah).

HolyProphet(P.B.U.H)madewasatthetimewhenhewasleavingtheworldandthereforetherewasa
requirementofapersonwhowasqualifiedenoughtobehissuccessor.Onemustevenponderonthe

The Fear of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) at Ghadeer
Oneshouldknowthathewasnotfearfulofpeoplesattackonhimbecausetheywerenotarmedwith
anyweapons;infacttheywerereadytosacrificeanythingandeverythingfortheMessenger(P.B.U.H)
ofAllah(SWT).TheywerelifegiversinthewayoftheProphet(P.B.U.H)andtheBattlesofBadr,
Khandaq,andKhaibarareallexamplestoprovetheirsincerity.
TherealitybehindthisfearisthefactthattherearespecialfearswhichLeadershave!WhenAllah(SWT)
grantsleadershiptoachosenone,He(SWT)eradicatesallkindsoffearthataretheresultsof
weaknessesandlackofforbearanceandtolerance.ButHeHimselfbefitsthefearwhichcomesasa
resultofunderstandingandcognizance.ItisreportedbytheProphet,Ifeartwothings,onethatmy
Ummahrunsbehindfulfillingtheirdesiresandsecondlytheybegintoinstilllongendlesshopes.
ProphetMusa(AS)alsohadafearwhenhewaschallengedbythemagicians.Hewasworriedthatifthe
peopledontunderstandthewisdombehindhismiracle,thentheignorantwillgetdominantandthen
suchkindofpeoplewillbecometheirleaders!Andthatiswhatexactlyhappened.TheytookMusa(AS)
asthegreatestofmagiciansanddisregardedhisprophecy!
Likewise,samewasthefearofMuhammad(P.B.U.H).Hewasworriedthepeoplesunderstandingofthis
vitaldeclarationandthisfearundoubtedlystaysvalidtilldate.Tilltodaypeoplehavemisconstruedwhat
theProphet(P.B.U.H)actuallymeanttosay.TheProphet(P.B.U.H)wasworriedaboutthemtaking
Wilayatsimplyasasystemorasacelebrationandahappygathering!Undoubtedly,wemustrejoiceon
theMessenger(P.B.U.H)sannouncementandreminiscethisoccasionbutwhatthepreviousUmmah
didandwecurrentlydoingisadisgraceforall.Wemustlamentandweepdayandnightbecausewe
donthavetherighttobehappyduetoourpresentstate!
The True Essence of Wilayat
ImamKhomeini(RA)saysthatGhadeerissomethingtotallypoliticalwheretheProphet(P.B.U.H)chose
hissuccessortoguardandthenleadtheUmmah.Todaywedonotwitnesstruepolitics;wehave
Satanismprevailingallovertheworld!SomeoneaskedImamJafarAlSadiq(AS),WhatisAql
(intellect)?,towhichImam(AS)replied,ItisthecapabilitythroughwhichoneattainstheMarifat
(recognition)ofAllah(SWT)i.e.recognizeshisCreatorandthusoffersservitudetoHimandgainsthe
pathtosalvation.
OnemanstoodandtookanameinfrontoftheImam(AS)askinghimifthementionedmanseemedto
beanintellectual.ButImamsaid,ThatisnotintellectbutSatanism.Satanicclevernessandintelligence
isnotbeingintellectual!Hencetoday,beitdemocracyordictatorship,allaredifferentfacesof
Satanism.
Thesocialplanningofthesocietyisknownasthetruepolitics.Itisthesystemwhichhasthecapacityto
rundifferentnationsandcountries.Politicsisactuallyanothernamegiventoreligion.Itistotallythe
same.Thereisnodifferencewhatsoever.
WhenImamKhomeini(RA)wasarrestedandimprisoned,thewardensuggestedImam(RA)toshun
politics.HetoldImam(RA),YouaresuchaholymanandaMarjaTaqleedtoo.Politicsisverydirty(the

The Concept of Wilayat in Sufism
TheSufisdedicatedeffortsinordertogivereligionanotherlook!Theytriedtokillthesoulofreligionby
abandoningcollectivismandintroducingindividualisminwhichoneisselfcenteredandcarefreeabout
thepeoplearoundhim.ImamKhomeini(RA)namedthistypeofreligiousness(Sufism)asTahajjurwhich
meansfollowingareligionofThawab(rewards)whichistotallyunrelatedtothesociety,environment,
politicsetc.ForafollowerofSufism,hisreligionishisSalah(prayer)andhisJannah(Paradise).Religion
isallaboutsittingontheMusallah(prayermat).Forthem,WilayatreferstoallkindsofHolySaints
sittingindifferentcaves,sittinginjunglesstrugglingtomakethemselvescapabletododifferent
miraclesandpeopleapproachingthemwithdifferentsupplications.Peoplecomingtosuchholysaints
seemtobeslavesaskingfromtheirmaster!
Why do People change their Course?

Thepublicfollowsaspecialgroupofpeoplewhoareeffectiveandinfluentialoverthesociety.They
dontthinkmuchtheysimplyblindlyfollowsomeoneanddontbotherfindingtheirrealpath.They
waitforsomeonetotaketheinitiativeandonceitistaken,theysimplystartfollowingthem.
Blind Practice of Leaders
Wilayathasbeenmisconstruedandmanyofthesedistinctivepeopleareresponsible.Afterthedeathof
theProphet(P.B.U.H),peopleformedtwogroups,oneweretheMuhajireenandtheotherwerethepart
ofAnsaar.AprivatemeetingwasfirstinitiatedbytheAnsaarandtheychoseSaadIbnUbadahtobethe
firstcaliphoftheMuslims.WhentheMuhajireengottoknow,afewselectedpeoplefromthemcame
andrejectedtheelectionmadebytheAnsaarandsotheyhadacollectivedecisionlater.Allthiswas
happeningatoneendandontheotherhandtheburialritualsoftheProphet(P.B.U.H)werecarriedout!
So,itisauniversalfactthatthepublicalwaysacceptswhateverisdecided.Thedaytheyunderstand
thattheyhavethepowertoinfluencetheirdecisions,nonewillremaintomakeanywrongdecisions!
ButasyoucanseetheMuhajireenandtheAnsarpresentedtheirsystemandpeoplewithoutanychoice,
acceptedit.Hence,Wilayatsincethenhasbeenleftidleandconsideredunimportant!Intodaysworld,
peoplegotodifferentcorruptpoliticianstomeettheirneedsandusetheinfalliblesappointedbyAllah
(SWT)forgainingrewards.AshurawasadaywhichsavedWilayatbutwehaveturnedthisdayintoa
meretraditiontoo.
The Power of a Walee granted by Allah (SWT)

3) EnactmentandExecutionofWilayat(IntezarulFaraj)
SeveraldoubtsandqualmsarecreatedonthetopicofWilayat.ThebandwidthofWilayatissowideand
vastthatanyonewhohaspoweroveranythingissaidtobeaWalee(custodian).
Allah(SWT)hasgiventhisauthoritytohisnominatedpeople,totheHolyMessenger(P.B.U.H)andthe
Imams.TheHolyProphet(P.B.U.H)oncequestionedthecompanions,DonotIhavethepowerover
yoursoulsmorethanudo?ThisshowsthathewastheWaleeoftheUmmah.Allah(SWT)hasthen
spreadandexpandedtheconceptofWilayatthathehasmadeeveryfatheraWalee(guardian)ofthe
familybecausehehasthetotalrightsandnoonehasthepermissiontooverrulehisverdicts.The
fundamentalpointwhichwecomprehendbythisisthatWilayatisnotsomethingwhichischosenby
electionsorbygivingvotes!Allah(SWT)istheonewhohasappointedthisstatusHeistheonetogive
powerandpositiontoperformthings.Foreverything,someortheotherpersonhasbeenmade
responsible.Wilayatinsimplewordsmeansthepowertodosomething.Therealpowerisinthehands
ofAllah(SWT)andbyhisIdhn(Grace),wehavebeengrantedthisWilayattoo!AllaffairsoftheUmmah
aretobeundertakenbythenominatedWaleewhoareappointedbyAllah(SWT).Innocircumstances
dowehavetherighttochooseaWaleeforourselfbecausethisisadesignationelectedbyAllah(SWT).
Islamic System Vs. Satanic System
WecanchooseaWakeel(lawyer)butnotaWalee(guardian).Wasanyoneeveraskedtochoosehis/her
parents?ThereforeoneneedstoaccepttheWaleewithoutanychoicewhatsoever.Peopleinthe

The Revival of True Wilayat presented at Johfa
Wilayatisaconceptforalltimesandgenerationstocome.ImamKhomeini(RA)reallybroughtabouta
miracle.Thissystemwhichwaspreviouslyoutofthebeliefs,philosophies,excludedfromthesyllabus,
outofthecourse,elapsedandburieddeepintothegraveswasblownlifeintobyImamKhomeini(RA).
Hepulledthesystemfromthepeakofdarkness;heraisedtheilluminatedflagofWilayatbyestablishing

tobeapartofourlivessinceourbirthi.e.fromthecradletothegrave.
Ghadeerisacelebrationwherethousandsofsorrowslietherein!Ghadeerhastoberevivedandthisis
onlypossiblebyponderingonAshuraandfulfillingourdutieswhilstwaitingforAlHujjah.Eventhe
brothersofAhleSunnahhavenotbeentoldthetruemeaningofWilayat!TheJewsperceivedtheir
destinationtobeparadiseandconsideredthehellfiretobeforbiddenonthembutAllah(SWT)cleared
theirmisconceptionbytellingthemthattheyareworthnothingtillthetimetheydontexecutethe
systempresentintheTauratandInjeel.Theirclaimswerelabeledbaseless.Ayah68ofSurahAlMaidah
talksaboutthem:

Say:OfollowersoftheBook!YoufollownogoodtillyoukeepuptheTauratandtheInjeelandthat
whichisrevealedtoyoufromyourLord;andsurelythatwhichhasbeenrevealedtoyoufromyourLord
shallmakemanyofthemincreaseininordinacyandunbelief;grievenotthereforefortheunbelieving
people.
TillthetimewedontimplementthesystemofAllah(SWT)ontheearth,whoeverweare,weare
worthless.WewillbevaluedonlyifthesystemofAllah(SWT)ismanifestedonearth!WillImamAli(AS)
appreciatethosewhoareconvincedwiththecorruptsystemanddeemsufficebyattending,celebrating
theeventofGhadeerandreturninghomeafterpraisinghim?

Brothersandsisters!ItisnotaverydifficulttasktorevivethesystemofWilayatthoughwehavemany
superpowersagainstusbutwehavethesupportandhandofAllah(S.W.T)becauseitisHisownvery
system.ReappearancemeansthedominanceofthedivineSystem(thesystemofAllahSWT)overall
othersystems!Religionhasbeendescendedtousinordertodominate.Notonlydowehaveto
preservereligion;wehavetoworkinordertogiveitdominance!
Theconditionsofthecurrentworldareagreatopportunityforustointroducethissystemtotheworld.
ThesystemofWilayatisalreadyimplementedintheIslamicRepublicofIranbythegreatleaderImam
Khomeini(RA).HeintroducedtheconceptofWilayateFaqeehi.e.thegovernmentofthejuristswhich
implementsanIslamicmodelofagovernmentinthecountrywherethecurrentWalee(custodian)isthe
