The early people gained ideas and technology through trade. There was a huge war called
the Trojan War. Homer wrote epic poems on it. Civilizations declined, and city-states were
started. They had many civil wars, and as time went on the governments changed. The Sparta
warriors contributed to Athens becoming a democracy. Next, the Persian War started and
Pericles helped develop a direct democract. Some people of Greece used observation and
reason to find answers to things instead of using religion.
Later King Philip built a great army and controlled Greece. When he died his son took the
throne, and his conquest spread Greek civilization. The cultures also started blending with many
others.
