Its a function to supply the building materials and energy we need to live.
The processes are: digestion, respiration, excretion and circulation.
2. Which are the nutritional systems? (1 point)
Digestive, respiratory, excretory and circulatory system.

3. What does the digestive system include? (2 points)
Digestive tube: mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, stomach, small and large
intestine and anus.
Helper glands: salivary glands, liver and pancreas.
4. Write the parts of the digestive system: (1 point)
Answer in diagram shown in page 5.

5. Explain how the digestive system works (the stages): (3 points)
Digestion: is the breakdown of foods to obtain their nutrients. In the
mouth the food is crushed and mixed with saliva to form a bolus. This bolus

goes through the pharynx and the oesophagus to the stomach. The stomach
generates gastric juices which by the movement of the stomach create
chyme. This chyme goes to the small intestine. In here, intestinal juice plus
pancreatic juice and bile are added to form chyle.
Absorption: is when nutrients pass from the digestive tube to the blood.
This occurs in the small intestine, through the capillaries, into the blood.
Elimination of waste: After absorption, the small intestine contains parts
of food that cannot be digested, this move into the large intestine where it
turns into faeces, which are excreted out of the body through the anus.
6. Write the name of foods that we should eat daily that contain the
following nutrients: (1 point)
