Thepurposeistoprovideallofourstudentsandteacherswithdigitaltechnologytobeusedindailyinstruction.

3)Whattechnologyisused?
Thetechnologyisspecificallydesignedforschools.TeacherswilluseCLOUDcomputingtostore,organize,access,
andpresentdigitalcurriculum,lessons,andinstructionalmaterialstotheirstudents.
AllstudentswillbeassignedaKUNOtablettouseduringvariousinstructionaltimesatschoolandwhenathomeas
determinedbytheirteachers.TheKUNOtabletisa10Androidhardwarecomputingdevice.Studentswillbetrainedin
theuseandcareoftheKUNOtablet.
Studentswillaccessdigitaleducationinformationapprovedbytheschooladministration.Theinformationstudents
receivewillbe"pusheddown"tothemfromtheCLOUDbytheirteachers.Forexample,teacherswillgivestudents
classroommaterials,readingassignments,individualizedwork,andhomeworktocompleteinclassandathome.This
allowsstudentswhodonothaveaccesstotheInternetathometousetechnologytolearn.Studentswhodohaveaccess
totheInternetathomeorincommunitylocationscanonlygotoInternetsitesavailablethroughtheschooltocomplete
theireducationalresearch.

4)Whatsafeguardsareinplacetoprotectstudentsfromaccessinginappropriatematerials?
ThetechnologyusedcomplieswiththefederallawknownastheChildInternetProtectionAct(CIPA).Theschools
CLOUDandKUNOtabletshavewebfiltersbuiltintotheircores.Thisisdesignedtoprotectstudentsfromaccessing
inappropriatecontent.StudentsmustaccesstheschoolsCIPAcomplianttechnologyregardlessofwheretheKUNO
tabletisused.However,duetotherapidlychangingnatureoftechnologywecannotabsolutelypreventstudentaccessto
inappropriatesites.ForfurtherinformationaboutthistopicpleasecontacttheSchoolsPrincipalandrefertothe
AcceptableUseAgreementfoundontheSchoolswebsite.

5)WhyisthestudenttakingaKUNOtablethome?
Liketextbooks,theKUNOtabletisaninvestmentapprovedbytheschoolboardfortheeducationalbenefitofour
students.Studentsshouldbeabletoaccessthisinvestmentatschoolandhome.Teacherswilldeterminethefrequencyof
KUNOtabletuse,whenitwillbesenthome,andwhatlearningactivitieswillbecompletedwithit.

6)Whatifastudentaccidentallybreaksorlosesthetablet?
TheKUNOtabletisspecificallydesignedwithtravelbetweenschoolandhomeinmind.TheKUNOtabletishighly
durable.Thebreakagerateisapproximately2%.Intheeventthatthetabletisdamagedorlost,itwillbeaddressedinthe
samemannerastheschooldoesfordamagedorlosttextbooks.Ifstolen,athiefcannotusetheKUNOtabletbecauseit
willbedisabledbytheschooladministration.

7)IsthereacameraontheKUNOtablet?
Yes.However,teacherswillonlyactivatethecamerawhentheywantittobeusedbytheirstudents.Theschool
cannotusethecameratospyonstudentsinschoolorstudentsandparentswhentheKUNOtabletisusedathome.

8)Howwillparents/guardiansbeinvolvedintheDigitalLearningInitiative?
Theparent/guardianisencouragedtoaccesstheirchildsschoolworkontheKUNOtabletwhenitisathome.The
parent/guardianisencouragedtocontacttheirchildsteacherstofindwaystoengageintheirchildslearning.
