What are the Students doing? What is the teacher doing?
Students are working in groups.
Asking their peers for help and clarification.
Students are speaking in their native languages to
assist in clarifying directions.
Students are helping each other; in this way, no
student is without a task.
Engaging with the task; usage of M&Ms allows
students to connect more readily with assignment.
Students also connect with balloon example
because it is fun.

































Teacher is giving instructions and allowing
students to work either independently or in
groups.
Teacher is walking around observing the students
as they work, only correcting when the whole
group seems to be lost.
Teacher is integrating native language (Spanish) to
assist in getting the students to understand key
points and directions.
Teacher uses balloon to model If/Then
statements. By using this, allows the students to
see a visual example, with an obvious outcome (If I
let this pin touch the balloon, then it will pop).
