Business Support Assistant

Reports To

Marie Murphy-Foran, Strategic Facilitator, Elliot Lake Centre for Development.

Summary

The Business Support Assistant is responsible to work with the Business Coach in developing a
virtual business incubator. The Business Support Coordinator will provide a variety of
administrative services and support services to new and existing entrepreneurs interested in
starting a business.

The incumbent demonstrates strong organizational skills, communication skills, understanding
of planning seminars, workshops and excellent computer skills.

Job Duties

Assist new and existing entrepreneurs to understand the challenges of business/venture
ownership.
Work alongside clients to identify available and relevant business support tools,
programs and services.
Work with clients and resources if necessary to overcome business challenges.
Research tools, programs and services in support of business start-ups and business
management skills.
Assist in coordination of services provided by delivery agencies: SBEC, CFDC, MEDTE,
Employment Options, Services Canada, ELNOS, BDC, PARO and other supports
including creation and delivery of workshops, seminars and information sessions.
Facilitate meetings for clients with appropriate supports.
Maintain client files, track progress and participate in reports measuring outcomes.
Perform data analyses as requested; develop and present reports in support of various
stages of business growth in conjunction with the Business Coach.


Market and advertise the services of the incubator as well as workshops and seminars.
Aid in the development of new workshops and seminars to assist businesses.
Other duties as required

Requirements

Post-secondary degree in a business management or a related field.
Demonstrated experience working with small business.
Demonstrated experience working in an office setting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-starter and highly motivated.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to provide constructive feedback to business owners.
Effective deadline management skills.
Strong customer service orientation.

Work Conditions

Travel is required.
Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
Overtime as required.



Wage

Up to $35,000 annually dependent on qualifications and experience.
Annualized contract positon.
