Be the ONE at The Laurels
Our students and staff were so excited that
our Be the ONE shirts arrived last week!
Last Friday morning, we had our first Be
the ONE themed event by gathering all of
our students in their Be the ONE t-shirts
together and formed a large 1. Staff took
time that day to talk with students about
what being the ONE really looks like as a
school and how each of us has the
opportunity to Be the ONE by caring for
others. Thank you for remembering to
send your children in their shirts!
Coming up next Thursday (October 30th
tangible opportunity to Be the ONE by
dressing up in Halloween costumes and
participating in our annual Halloween
parade down to The Laurels. Before
leaving for the parade, staff will have
discussions with students about the
deeper meaning of this experience; the
opportunity to bring joy to these residents
who may not have another opportunity to
share in the fun of the season. If it isnt
raining or inclement weather, our parade to
The Laurels will begin at 1:00. Due to a
lack of space in the hallways of the Laurels
we are asking that parents not come into
the Laurels, but rather line the parade
route to cheer our students on. The parade
route will be Park to Van Buren to 36 to
Curtis back to Park. Thank you for your
continued support at home.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mr. Field

Square 1 Art ~ 2014
The Square 1 Art theme this year is
robot love as we will focus on
geometric shapes. When talking to
your child about their artwork I
encourage you to start the
conversation with the phrase Tell me
about your picture! Often with
childrens art we may see something
different than what they had intended.
This can be a great way to startup a
conversation with your child. Square 1
art packets will be going home this
week. In the packet you will see two
options for either ordering online or by
paper form. Placing your order online
is the preferred method. The
deadline to place orders will be Nov.
11. We will have a grade
level competition to see who has the
highest percentage of participation.
The winner will have the opportunity to
do an extra clay project!
