Goal Setting --End of Semester

What were the goals/FEAPS

(framed as wonderings) you
worked on this semester? To
which FEAPs do these
goals/challenges apply?
This semester I want to model
appropriate verbal
communication skills to
promote effective
communication. This FEAPS
applies to:
The Learning EnvironmentE. Models clear,
acceptable oral and written
communication skills;

Taquila Mallary

USF Elementary Education

Describe the reason you selected these wonderings.

I chose this wondering because I struggled with communicating
effectively to the third grade students in my spring internship. I
used broad terms that not only confused the students, but myself
as well (sometimes).

Describe several ways you grew in each of these areas. How do

you know you made progress? Provide specific evidence (refer
to videos, observation notes, student work, photos, field notes,
etc.) to back up these claims of growth.
Through my collected data, I have noticed that I am more careful
with my word choice and speaking comprehensibly (to the
students) has almost become second nature to me. I have also
noticed that my students are more engaged and communicates a lot
more.
I know that I have made progress from comparing my audio and
video files and also through the different level of engagement my
students have. My video revealed (in the beginning) the confused
looks on my students faces and now they are pretty much nonexistent.

How did you CT/US support

your growth over the
semester?
Throughout the semester, my CT
and I first noted some of my
bad habits (or go to phrases)
like Hey guys in reference to
the whole class and Great!
instead of specifying what was
done greatly. We discussed
other things that I could do to
avoid these things and I also
recorded both video and audio
to see and hear students
reactions to certain word
choices.
Where do you go from here?
What are your future goals as
you move toward your final
internship?
From here, I will continue to
work on my communicative
skills.
My future goal is focusing on
effective differentiation
instruction.
