Course Description:
This course will provide professionals with an introduction in how to appropriately teach the
use of technology in a responsible and effective manner. Upon completion of this course the
professional will receive
Goals of the Course:

To educate professionals on how to maximize the use of technology education


To educate professionals on techniques to organize an effective online classroom
environment
To educate professionals on how to gauge online classroom performance and
participation
To certify professionals as competent in delivering guidelines of proper technology use

Class Participation (45%) :


Your participation is essential to your success in this program. This course does not include any
required in person meetings. The primary means of communication will be through the
discussion boards on WebET. Each week (Monday) a topic concerning issues in technology

education will be posted. The discussion post will be available until the following Saturday at
midnight. You will receive points based on the quality of interaction between you and your
classmates not the quantity. It is important that you answer all direct questions asked in
response to your own posts as well as ask at least two different classmates questions about
their posts.
Assessments (30%):
There will be three tests given to evaluate the professionals understanding of technology
concepts. There is also an extra credit opportunity to evaluate the professionals effeiciency in
utilizing social networking as a tool for class needs and discussion. Each assessment is worth a
total of 10% of the final grade. The topics reviewed in the tests are as followed:

Digital Citizenship Presentation (25 %):


Professional will demonstrate understanding of the concept of Digital Citizenship by utilizing a
multimedia tool to present their information. This tool can be in the form of a webpage, wiki,
blog, or any other interactive Web 2.0 format.

The grading scale represents the following standards:

The "A" grade may be interpreted to mean that the instructor recognized the
professional's exceptional mastery of the course material.
The grade of "B" indicates that the professional has demonstrated an above average
The "C" grade is the professional's certification that the student has demonstrated
minimal mastery of the course material.
The professional is graded "D" or "F" when his/her grasp of the course is unacceptable.

For certification, the grade in a course must be a minimum grade of "C."


Academic Integrity Expectations: All students are expected to follow the Georgia Southern
University Student Conduct Code. Students who violate the Student Conduct Code are subject
to discipline actions as describe in the Georgia Southern University Student Handbook.
