Topic outline:

Literacy: This half term we are learning to listen


and enjoy stories. We will be listening to
traditional stories like The Gingerbread Man and
The Three Little Pigs. We will be talking about the
stories we have read. We will be learning to
recognise our own names and practise writing it.
Mathematics: This half term we are starting to
recognise and count numbers to 10. We will be
playing with and exploring shapes.
Understanding of the world: This half term we will
be talking about our families and special events.

Suggested books:
Traditional stories for example Goldilocks and the Three Bears,
Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man, the Three Little
Pigs.
Nursery Rhymes
Check the school library and Bolling Hall library. Remember you
can borrow books from the Nursery class library to share.

Suggested visits:
Visit family and let your child discuss their
time in Nursery.
Visit the park and talk about the things they
can do for example jumping, balancing and
skipping.
Go for a walk and talk about all the different
houses that they can see and who might live in
them.
Go for a walk and talk about the different
sounds they can here.

Topic challenges (you can choose just one):

1. We challenge you to draw a picture of you and


your family.
2. We challenge you to read a bedtime story every
night.
3. We challenge you to put your coat on by
yourself.
