accosted shortly before New Years on Castro St. by some ltlnerant no neck loonie.
Anna and Keith fgnored this creep untl I he flew In between them at the corner of
f'larket and Castro and del ivered a left hook to Anna's face. Anna turned, del lvered a
forceful klck to the man's behind' knocked hlm to the ground and begren punmelIng him.
l{e are glad that Anna stood her ground but equally glad th€t the polfce arrived
ouickly and carted the loonfe off. It is always risky when deallng wlth these
r-azies but lt is sweet to put them In their place so eFfectively. t{e understand

partles I've had the privilege to attend.
January lTth was the date of the l{SD Chrlstmas Party. Bl | | Hanzel cal led the tlps
in hls lovely red and green outfit. Russ Klng, Tom Trfpp and James Ozanich decorated
the Y and were Santa's helpers' w h fl e l l s . S a n t a C l a u s a . k . a . itel Inda Napler pul led
out natnes For giFts under the Chrlstrnas tree. I must gay lt wae an Interestfng array
of gifts we al I received that nfght. The Inflatable snake, a traln set, flowers, and
of course, the lovely c o n d o m sw e r e n l c e a n d a v e r y practfcal glft for any socfal
squ€tre dancer (male' that ls). Thanks to all the people wlth the creatlve glfts and
to everyone who helped out.
Oue to not havlng a secret pen pal I was not able to gp to the Pen Pal Christmas
party on Frlday the l9th. lly sources tel I me that alot of peole were total ly
surprised at the reveal Ing of thelr secret flals. tlonths of notes and glfts from a

Freeman's houge for the l{SD Christrnas Party. lJe were greeted wlth Christrnas car ,
at the door ancl Bob llann handed out funny I ittle X-mas words to wear for a game later
on. The kftchen was full of foodr p€opler and lots of holtday spfrit.
Game tfme came and we all got a slf p of paper with a X-rnas rlddle on lt. Our
misslon: To find the p e r s o n who had the answer taped to their chest. I had a great
time ancl have my I lttle sheriff's badge to prove it. The toughest game thoughr was
f igurlng out how rnany Christrnas Jelly beans Anna Damlanf had put In a jar. l{el |, it
was a close count but Eddie Smlth vras closest and won a coveted l{S0 desfgner patch.
Lots of warm hugs and nice people--l can't think of a greater group of people to be
with. ilany thanks to Freeman for lettfng u3 Into his home for € fabulous nfght.
I'm sure there were other parties a n d get-togethers I dldn't make lt to, but lf

The next day, atrout a dozen of us trraved the rafn to make the annual trek to San
l{ateo for Harry Koga's mother's New Year open house. As usual ' the food end the
hospital f ty brere wonclerful . Neither Harry nor hfs rnon ever seem to make it out of
the kitchen, but they certainly help the rest of us to rlng In the new year in
del lcious style, and wfth more than a few extra calorles. "l{e'l I Just dance lt off

archangel for thfs group has been a real Joy for me; I've had a chance to get to know
Roblnr fty incredibly enthuslastlc, helpful and talented associate archangel (call her
"Gabe"), ancl a splrited and qufck-to-cetch-on trunch of newer dancers. Efll has
real ly been puttlng them through their paces, and thefr fast progress fs real ly
remarkable. Graduation is targeted for l{onday, llarch 16, and I hope thst as rnany
club members will try to be there as possfble. And soeaklng of club members
I'd like to thank the club merntrers that have been angellng regulerly on l{onday
nlghts. I know it's real ly made a difference to the class mernbersr slnce several of
them have tolcl me how rnuch they appreclate it, and benefit from lt. lf you haven't
