I created the contents page for the
World Youth Day: Lasalle report were
doing, for the multimedia postcard. The
contents page was made using the
Show/Hide option, and using Page
Layout tools.
For the Cover page, we used the simple
normal font option, located on the home
tab. This looks the most professional
compared to the other font styles, and it
overall just works to display the cover page.
Its clean, and simple, to look informative,
which is what we are aiming for.

For the titles on each page, we used the font

style header 1. It actually really pops out, and
the font is a very good header to differentiate
the paragraphs and the title. (In fact, I used it
as this journals title, because I thought it
worked this much.
I also used section breaks throughout
the book to separate sections and to
begin making the next page without
having to take longer methods.

28/03/14
Today, we wrote the journal for the previous
day. As presented on the left, I wrote all about
what I did on the date 27/03/14, and went
over the contents page, the cover page, the
fonts I used, and the section breaks used on the
work.
To capture the images, I simply used Print
Screen and used a crop on the image to only
display what I wanted to.
We also went over the main course outline for
this task, for the world youth day assignment.

Today, I wrote the diary for yesterday, in which , and we
designated roles for the WYD assignment.

April 1, 2014
Today, we are seeing a travel consultancy company named Ready Set Jet. Well be seeing them
during an incursion, during period 2, April 1st.
the group of people have travelled to various locations, like Italy, London, Brazil, Japan and Los
Angeles.

The incursion was a lot of fun. We helped out the Tafe Travel course students, and gave them a
reflection on their skills. I was paired with two people, both of which were very nice and helped a
lot.
We also went over all of the work for the WYD assignment, learning how we do each of the
categories.

April 3, 2014
Today, we have a special guest speaking to us, Ms
Mohen, who has attended the last 3 world youth
days.
World Youth Day (abbreviated as WYD) is actually
abbreviated differently in previous countries. To us
Australians (and, of course, other English speaking
nations), we call it World Youth Day. But, speaking a
different language, the words are different, making a
different abbreviation.
Best way to describe the accommodation Indoor camping. There are no showers, no blankets, its
as if you went on a camping trip, and this is done to make it feel like an adventureyou are a
pilgrim.
Tuesday were culture gatherings. Everyone from a particular nation get together, and have a
gathering and an opening mass.
On Wednesday, you learn about the faith, through activities and readings. Guest speaking and
performances were also shown, to further the information on the faith.
On Thursday, catechesis is repeated in the morning, and later on in the day, the pope arrives, to
greet all of the people of WYD.
On Friday, catechesis is done again in the morning, and a short lunch is had. Then, in the afternoon,
the station of the cross is performed, which has actors performing the crucificition of Jesus Christ.
On Saturday, first day of the weekend, a long walk is had, and then the Evening of Vigil is had, in
which the pope has a reading. It isnt a mass, just a short little reading. Then, all of the people of
World Youth Day, sleep out overnight.
On Sunday morning, after the sleep over, they wake up and everyone gets together, and speaks
and has a final morning together. Then, later in the day, the pope does a big reading. According to
Ms. Mohen, she says that the Sunday is the most important day of World Youth Day, and is the most
enjoyable. Then, after the popes speech, everyone has a long walk home, after the sleep out, and
then everyone just has some sightseeing. This is the closest thing to being a tourist that the people
do, since most other activities and life-style forms are done in a pilgrim fashion, more so enjoying
the religious aspects than going out, going to a hotel, having dinner at restaurants. Being a pilgrim is
far different than being a tourist, and the activities of what people would usually do are far different.
Why go to World Youth Day?
1) Travel. Seeing the world, and all the different sites and people is a marvellous thing.
2) Making friends. Being put in the pilgrim situation, makes everyone close together and makes it
easy to bond with others in the situations they are put in.
3) To increase the bond with god. To increase the knowledge of the catholic faith, and to ask
questions concerning the faith. Being put together with people of similar interests and ideas makes
this very easy to accomplish.
World Youth Day is every 2-3 years. Generally three, but can be moved due to certain events.

April 4th, 2014

Today, we went around the school, taking photos of various locations in which people
could be in during a World Youth Day, for a hypothetical World Youth Day at LaSalle
college. We took some images of locations in which we think would be best for the
Lasalle College world youth day, the main locations being the Gymnasium, the Front
Oval, the Chapel and the auditorium courtyard

April 7th, 2014

Today, Aaron and I compared our storyboards to each other. (Charlie was absent). We overall didnt
do a terrific job. Aaron, did half of the task correctly. He put a bunch of details, but he didnt draw
pictures of specify what images would be used in each frame. I ALSO did half of the task correctly. I
had done all the pictures for the work, and a few little details but I hadnt finished the task. But,
putting our fantastically brilliant brains together, we put two and two together, and worked on the
storyboard for the electronic postcard. We didnt fully finish it however, we didnt want to leave
Charlie out of the picture. Instead, we just went over the title card, and we are overall happy with
how it turned out.

April 8-11th, 2014

Not a whole lot is achieved on these days.
Aaron is away on occasional days, making
it difficult to work with, and I am also
absent on the 11th of April. Not a whole
lot is achieved, I basically just got sections
from the design brief completed, and
copied World Youth Day information
into the introduction portion of my
design brief.
It was also, (only during this time period)
brought to our attention that Charlie
would be going on a holiday and would
not be at school to help us complete the assignment. This puts us into a difficult situation, as our
movie will not contain everything is could contain, and certain sections of the design brief will not be
completed on time. I really wish Charlie had finished his sections of work before he went on holiday,
because this makes our assignment look far more bland and smaller.

April 12th-28th, 2014

During April the 12th and the 28th April, it was the school holidays. I did not get much completed, and
did not finish much work as I also had three other assignments to do, and I was sure I could finish
the work back at school.

April 29th, 2014

Today, it is the first day back at school. Charlie is absent and Aaron and I have not done a whole lot
of work on the holidays. Its not a problem though, we still have until next week to get it done, and
there isnt a whole lot left to do. Today we basically went over premier and video editing, and
although I will not be using premier, it was at least interesting to go over it. I actually have used
premier in the past, but I do find it inferior compared to other video editing software. My favourite
would be camtasia studio, but I decided to not use it for this assignment as it has somewhat odd
codecs and I want to make sure nothing goes wrong in the video editing portion of things.

Today, I went and photoshoped various pieces of artwork I would need for the World Youth Day
video.

Im still not entirely sure which ones I will use in the finalise video, but Im pretty happy with these
for now.

few different designs Ill be using for the movie. Ill be animating my portion of the video in Adobe
Flash Professional, so Ill be using various masking techniques to put different graphics inside of
texts, and I wanted some gradients for the backgrounds and the text.

May 5th, 2014

Today I got a LOT of work done. The work is tomorrow, and my entire video is done. Here are some
screenshots:
I also finished all my Design Brief sections, and all my work is ready to go. There is a major problem
though; Aaron has not sent me his video. At this point, I have to hand in my video alone, and hope
he started his (Im not even sure if he has), but Im not entirely sure whats going to happen with
that. Ive also finished all of my design brief work, so I should be okay to hand in my work tomorrow.

May 6th, 2014

Everyone got extensions. Literally, everyone. No one was ready to hand in the work, and everyone
has to have their work sent in by Thursday. Aaron, did not do the video. He actually had barely
started. And he hasnt finished most of his work. He sent in his work at the very end of the period, so
now, during Daedalus, Im editing it all together. He didnt do as much as I expected him to however,
which was slightly upsetting.

Im slightly upset with how this all turned out. I really want
to achieve this year, and my group didnt really come
through. Aaron didnt do anything till last minute, and
Charlie went on holidaywithout warning. It would
certainly be appreciated if I was aware of these
circumstances ahead of time, next assignment. At this
point, Aaron still has not sent in his video, so I am STILL
unable to edit the video. This is a serious problem, because
we are going to miss the goal again. I spoke to Aaron this morning however, and told him that he has
to send the video in before Wednesday, 3:00pm so I can work on it in Daedalus.
May 7th, 2014.
Aaron has not sent his video. He has not sent his video, as of now, 6:00pm, on the 7th of May.
This is aggravating at this point. This is just
stressful for me, as I
now have to do one of two thingsEither chase him up
during my school day, and finish it before
Information
Technology (which I should not have to go
out of my way to
do), or hand in an incomplete assignment. Its looking like the latter is going to be my ultimate
option. Aaron has sincerely let me down here, hopefully next group assignment (if there even is
one), Ill work with people who actually do the work. Charlie being absent also doesnt help, as it
looks like we decided to not do a big chunk of the work, as shown here:

May 8th, 2014

Aaron is finishing off
his video in class, and
all the groups are
finalising their
assignments (though,
there are quite a
number of groups who
have not finished
either.) Yes, I am
writing this the night of
the day, we did not
hand in the group assignment again. Aaron finished his video with a few minutes to spare, and now I
have to edit together our video for the assignment. Seeing as we get a little more time, I also spent
today quickly polishing my journal, adding pictures and making it just more visually appealing. I am
now going to edit the video together with Movie Maker, and the assignment will be finished.

May 11th, 2014

Whilst editing my video together in windows movie maker, I have noticed a serious problem.
It is seriously blurry. And this is unfixable, Ive been searching the internet for quite a while now, I
cannot fix this.
This leads me to switch video editor. I will now be using Camtasia Studio 8, since that is the only
software that is wanting to work at this point in time.
The blur is no longer an issue, and I overall find that camtasia studio is better software since it allows
lots and lots of layers.
