Unit 2 Final Project: Album Creation
You may work in partners on this 2-part assignment. You may choose to work traditionally, or digitally.

Part 1: Soundtrack Imagine Night, The Rocking-Horse Winner or The Chrysanthemums is


being made into a feature film. You have been hired to create a soundtrack to represent the story,
focusing on one of the themes and relevant motifs, symbols and events. You may choose a specific era
or genre of music, or work from a broad base.
1. Choose one of the themes from your chosen story and write a thematic statement to be the
focus of your soundtrack.
2. Choose 4-6 songs to represent your soundtrack. For each song, justify your selection with a
short, but significant explanation of its connection to the short story. Make sure to explain how
it relates back to your theme. You may also want to look at how it relates to a character(s),
significant events, symbols, and motifs. It is recommended that you refer to specific phrases or
images in the song to create these connections.
3. Collect the lyrics and find an appropriate YouTube video/link for each song.
4. Choose a fitting album title and include a creative album cover
Part 2: Illustration You will be creating an illustration focused on one of the themes from your
chosen story representing a character. You may choose your medium from any creative talent you
possess, for example watercolors, crayons, collage, markers, and photographs.
1. Choose one of the themes from your chosen story and write a thematic statement to be the
focus of your illustration.
2. Choose one character to illustrate in a creative way.
3. Write a detailed explanation of the connection between your illustration and the theme referring
to specific details from your illustration.
