This I believe
I believe that there is life outside of Earth and that we are living in a giant brain. The reason
why I believe aliens or life outside of Earth are there is because the universe is expanding and it
is too big to say that were the only living organisms in the universe. People cant be sure that
Earth is the only planet with life.
I started to believe that there is life outside of Earth after learning about space in elementary
school from a textbook. When I was around the age of ten, I would walk outside at night and just
stare at the stars wondering what was out there. I was so fascinated with space and being raised
strictly catholic, I wasnt able to say what I wanted to say to my family when it comes to
extraterrestrials and the cosmos except my mother. If I do tell them, they will basically tell me
that everything I believe in is wrong and they wont give the idea a chance; they would tell me
that that idea is ridiculous and brush it off. Growing up, I didnt like how I was raised to practice
one religion that I did not choose to practice or believe. I dont need to believe in what was
shown to me. I did not like how catholicism was being shoved in my face because it seems
wrong.
My mother was the person whom influenced me to believe that there are intelligent beings
outside of Earth or that we could possibly be living in someones head. My mother didnt tell me
to believe in aliens, but she told me to keep an open mind and to believe in what I want to
believe in. My mother was a factor to why I still have this belief and she would always talk to

me, trying to find out what was going on in my head; she would also join me on my walks at
night while I look up at the stars when I was youmger.
This belief makes me feel that us humans, are smaller than what we think we are. The
universe is big; it is billions of years old and we can barely live to be 90 years old; scientists said
estimated that the universe is about 12 to 14 billion years old. There are arguments and
controversy about whether there is life outside of Earth because people cant accept the reality
that we are small. I do believe that there is something bigger than us that exists, but I think the
higher being that almost everyone believes in didnt create just us. I think the higher being
created the universe with all kinds of species and races. People arent willing to accept or even
hold the thought of a higher being that created more than just life on Earth. There are actually
other planets that are similar to ours.
I think that there are other planets that have similar characteristics of Earth in a different
galaxy. If there are other planets similar to ours, then there is no doubt that there is life either
right now or will soon to have life due to evolution. It was said that before there human life on
Earth, there were only micro-organisms that evolved overtime. So if we were to find microorganisms like bacteria, on the new planets for example, then technically that planet has life.
Evolution will go into play and the planet will probably become a New Earth in a sense. The
only problem that is holding us back from finding these organisms is the lack of technology that
has the ability to scan the newly discovered planet for micro-organisms.
I also believe that the universe is a giant brain due to the similar structure. The way our eyes,
veins, and brain cells work is basically a mirror of the phenomenon of the universe. The
electrical firing of the brain cells is similar to the way the universe is expanding. The way the
brain grow is basically the same way the universe is expanding. To me, I think it is an interesting

concept of how the scientist think that we could be living in a cosmic mind or how we could all
be a figment of a higher beings imagination. It sounds ridiculous, but this concept is still
something that can get people thinking.
We will never find out if we are living inside a giant brain because all of this is just a theory
and it is not fact, but I believe that it can be true so Im just going to stick with what I believe in.
Regarding to my belief of intelligent life outside of Earth, I think if we had the right technology,
we could end all of the controversy about life outside of Earth versus life only on Earth.
We just need to wait until we can get the technology we need to discover extraterrestrials
and well find the answer to one of the most asked questions, Is there life outside of Earth?, I
would say that only time can tell.
