Goal:
Develop the sense of tasting
Objective:
Children will recognize the four different tastes that the tongue can
sense by tasting.
Transition Plan
Discuss with children the flavor of bitter, sweet, sour and salty.
Read the book: You Cant Taste a Pickle with Your Ear.
Procedure
Let children taste all the food that is the plate and discuss the flavors.
Ask them questions about the flavors.
Serve them the lemonade and ask them what the lemonade reminds them
of
Advanced Preparation:
Make the lemonade, peal the lemon, place samples of each food on
Plates.
List Materials:
Lemon wedges and lemonade, candy, potato chips and unsweetened
Cocoa, a pitcher, cups, small plates.
Developmental Benefits:
Children will enhance language when they describe that flavor of the food.
Future Plans:
Make a graph about the four flavors.
