The characteristics of a pediatric nurse aid is to be a caring, friendly, helpful,
compassionate, patient, delightful, gentle, kind, and devoted to make a difference
towards patients, medical professionals, and registered nurses. It is the pediatric
nurse aid job to help and care for their co-workers, patients, and other staff.
Children are sometimes scared coming to the hospital when medical treatment is
needed, it can be overwhelming at times. The pediatric nurse aid needs to help the
child relax and tell them everything will be ok when visiting the doctor. The
responsibilities of the pediatric nurse aid is to communicate to the family and the
child if they need something or need some cares done to them. The pediatric nurse
aid also will ask them if anything hurts or ask them how much pain are the in
between 1-10 on the scale. They assist the registered nurses and physicians by
taking vital signs, feeding, bathing, making beds, and respond to a wide variety of
parents requests.

Pediatric nurse aids need to have high school diploma or a two year college. The
work environment that pediatric nurse aids would work at would be hospitals,
specialty health care facilities, and medical clinics. The qualifications to a pediatric
nurse aid is to have your CNA, First Aid, CPR/AED, Blood borne Pathogens, and
Mandatory Reporting Adult and Child Abuse. The benefits of being a pediatric
nurse aid is having a 401K plan and Getting Flu shot for free. The salary of a
pediatric nurse aid is earning about 12.22 an hour and earning a 25,420 a year.
