Children who have families in the military, live in poverty, and have unstable
families tend to move a lot. This has a negative impact on their social-emotional
development. A child needs a primary caregiver in their life and benefits from
strong trusting relationships. If the family is in poverty then there might be more
than just social-emotional delays. A caregiver needs to understand the situation to
the best of their ability. The caregiver will need to adapt to the specific needs of
the children. These children might not be socially on track or might be anti social.
They might have issues with creating relationships with people like; caregivers,
peers, and authority figures. Ways to help these children would be pairing them up
with peers that are social and would encourage them to open up, respecting them,
being patient with them, listening to the, and caring for them.
