Looking for a change.

This past Saturday October 18, 2014 Golgotha SDA church held its annual board
meeting. During this meeting they nominated new members for the 2015
committee, also they talked about some challenges they faced during 2014, their
plans for the coming year which includes:

The new committee

The new committee includes newly elected Erlin Nelson as Pastors assistant,
Gerard Legrand as director of deaconess, and Solvy Laguerre is re-elected as
treasury. This new committee will take office on January 1st 2015.

Getting our own

For the past 7 years Golgotha has been renting from the Lutheran Church of
Boston. They since then have been trying to buy a location they can call their
own, but due to a lack of members which means not enough money is coming
in, theyve yet to get it done. When Joe Brice, a new member asked why
havent they been able to come up with enough money, Mr. Vitony Laguerre,
the churchs treasury blames it on the system. He went on to explain that
because their part of a conference (Northeastern Conference), they are
required to share any money they collect with the conference. Therefore the

tenth of every members income goes to the conference and the church keep
any additional offerings. According to Mr. Laguerre, the money thats left for
them after every service is just about 30% of what goes to the conference.
As of January 2015, the church will start raising money as an effort to speed
up the process. Members will be asked to donate at $1 every Saturday, also
they will a few events that will include fundraising concerts and other
activities.

Get our teenage boys involved

Keeping the young people in church has always been a challenge to Golgotha
SDA church according to Lise Calixte director of youth ministry. Over the
years theyve seen teenagers leaving the church for reasons they describes as
the church being boring, or not having any activities other than bible studies.
After they were able to come up with the idea of having a youth ministry, it
only seems to work for the girls, who are now part of the praise team, and are
involved in other activities. The youth department after observing the boys
comes up with some ideas that can help the boys. They plan to bring in other
men to serve as mentor and help these young men grow and become more
responsible, and most importantly becoming men of God. They also agree to
do more activities with the boys outside of church, and to get them to be
involved in the community, as suggested by Dave Dessources college
freshmen who also plan on being a leader in the youth department.

The church plans to start executing all its plans by the beginning of 2015, and
will also have in place solutions for other issues they didnt give many details
about.
